Iβve been really struggling what with this and that recently, so much so, I decided to take a day off work and have a nice long run. How I envy people who can just run when they want! Sometimes I feel as though all Iβm doing is chasing my tail trying to fit the runs in. But not today π.
Iβve been trying to build back up to a HM distance, and previously Iβve done 16.1k followed by 21.1k with nothing in between, and found the 21.1k really, really hard. Anyway, trying to be a bit more sensible this time. My last long run 10 days or so ago was 17.1k and today I did 18.1k. It wasnβt all that easy but I feel more confident that next Sunday on flatter ground I might just manage the HM distance again without feeling as though my legs are about to fall off!
Anyway, I got up to what is locally known as the horse monument today, because an old steeple chaser is buried underneath it from the 1700s or something like that. It wasnβt easy approaching it - itβs all trail, and I prefer concrete, but mixing it up a bit is good for the soul! You can see for miles, on a good day, all the way to the coast and the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.
Anyway, I feel a gazillion times better in myself now, running is clever like that, isnβt it. Have a smashing day all! πππ

Thank you so much Sparky, thatβs really kind! π. Iβm pleased you enjoy the photos, mind you I always seem to take a photo of the same tree for some reason, I like how it changes over the seasons. The countryside around here is lovely, and Iβm lucky in that I can walk 10 minutes and be in the centre of town, and run 10 minutes and be in the countryside. Have sort of rested up today but had to go and get a prescription for antibiotics as have a tooth infection. I so hope they work as itβs affecting everything really.
Hope youβre feeling much better now and that youβre getting out there in those new shoes! All the best πππ.
Thanking you! It was a good call to just have a run day π. We need a 48 hour day really, I could happily sleep half of that and then thereβd still be plenty of time for everything else π€£.
What a wonderful ideaβ¦ and what a run that was. π Very best wishes for your (next) HM. I hope you enjoy it. I was very interested to hear of your experience jumping from 10miles to HM. Taking note of that!
Aw thank you so much GailXrunning π. It was so worth it and really perked me up! Yes, I definitely found the leap from 10 miles to a HM with nothing in between a struggle. These extra longer runs are giving me a bit more confidence and I think (I hope!) Iβm a bit more prepared this time round. Enjoy your evening π.
