Morning gang, I woke up thinking it was fabulously early, it wasnβt. Iβm trying to get up to HM distance, and todayβs big run was 16.1k - my first 10 miles!!
I started off slower than I usually do, telling myself that I was doing a 6k warm-up then a 10k. When I got to 10k, I told myself I just had a little 6k to finish... breaking it down certainly made it feel much easier that I thought it would be, although it was still a challenge.
Genuinely never thought I could ever run this distance, and it wasnβt the fastest but Iβm so very pleased!
10 miles is a fantastic milestone - massive congratulations. As you say, so much of it is a mental challenge and finding ways to trick the mind are often key. Happy running!!!
