First time posting in this forum after I’d done my ‘long easy run’ under the Jeff programme on Garmin. The programme ends in two weeks but my half will be mid June so I’m planning another couple of attempts at 13 miles after the last two have been a mixture of running and walking. Getting there and lovely to see all the people here who are doing or have done half marathons. I used to do a lot 20 years ago before kids then a knee op and I’ve learnt to be ok that my times are going to be much longer not just due to age but to being heavier too. Good luck to the fast ones but particularly to the plodders like me who are excited/dreading that first half! Also a picture of my faithful running companion who waits patiently for me unless she’s distracted by a squirrel!

Half in sight
Helllooo!!! A very warm welcome to this forum. It sounds like you have made great progress ready for your June half. I'm sure it's hard not to compare your times to those of the 20 years younger you, but that's clearly not stopping you. Time to lay down some new half marathon PBs and keep moving forwards😍 I love that you have come back to running after a break like that - hope it's proving just as rewarding as ever, if not more so! Do keep us updated on progress - towards the end of the month watch out for our 'pompom' post for anyone doing June races, add your name to that and we will raise a grand level of support for you 😊
Dogs outside polling stations is a relatively new phenomenon on the Internet.
I'm working in a polling station on Thursday. It's a very long day: 6.30am to after 10pm. We get plenty of people with dogs who actually come inside with them. As long as they're well behaved it's no problem. The same with children, though tying them up outside is not advised.
And best of luck with your upcoming "flat" HM.
Unlike a full marathon you don't need to taper (much) and it's not a bad idea to run the distance a few weeks before any race of that length.
Yes we had elections last year and PCC elections so massively busy time. Hoping it’s busy for you so that long day goes quick. Thanks for the advice too. I’ve paid the fees and got me a spot so have to do it now!
Due to boundary changes all three council seats for this ward will be up for election. The person who comes in first will get four years in office, the second place will get two years and the third will get just one. (That's because council elections here are only held in three out of every four years.)
So the voter can mark up to three Xs on their paper. One is fine. Two is fine. The number of the counting shall be three. Four is right out and the ballot paper will be invalid. Or is that the Holy Hand Grenade?
That half is definitely in sight for you. How exciting! You’ll be in tip top form for that I’m sure.
Could I borrow your companion to chase away all the squirrels in my garden? They keep digging up my bulbs 🤬
