Since I started running around 4 years ago I have ran in Asics Gel Pulse 8 to 12 inclusive! I find at around £50 for a pair these are a comfortable budget.

I do around 100k per month but am working on extending that, I am not lightweight and am 58years old. I have a neutral gate.

I find the Asics OK, I usually comfortable get about 800 k out of them and they always seem in good condition when I change them out, just lost some of the cushion. I tend to buy from Sportshoes .com and stick with these because I know them and opportunities to try on are few and far between.

I do feel sometimes they could do with being a little more comfortable, I can get a little rub in my instep and sometimes a blister but not very often, yesterday post a 10k race my instep was tender, not from rubbing though. I did run with an odd gait for some reason, my left foot was slapping down a bit and the front of my shin was aching.

I am contemplating trying a different pair of shoes, I am prepared to go up a little in budget too if required. Has anyone got any suggestions of different makes or other Asics shoes they recommend in that sort of budget.

I seem to note online that the big sellers seem to get a model to themselves and it is very difficult to compare prices, mail order suits me best.

I quite like the RunRepeat site for comparing shoes. This link will take you to their review of the Asics Gel Pulse 12, and if you scroll down the page a little way you'll see some comparable shoes listed:

runrepeat.com/uk/asics-gel-...

I have been told that RunRepeat don't always show the best deals, so it might be worth shopping around further for a shoe you like the look of.

Neutral with cushioning you say?

Have a look at New Balance 1080 - and best prices are at their outlet shops.

I was a committed Gel Pulse man myself, from 5 through to 8 :-)

Thanks John, it is good to know someone who has crossed over from what I have. Where can I find NB outlet shops? I just looked online and they are double the price of the Gel Pulse

😅

if you're in Cyprus, then Google is your best bet - mine is at the Cheshire Outlet complex in Ellesmere Port :-)

My last few pairs of NB1080s have been £65-85 - most recently 8 months ago.

I am always in the hunt for bargains as I’m on a minimal budget. Sneakeroutlet has bargains. I got my last Nike shields from there for £50. Start Fitness are good too. I got my best ever shoe from them as the colour was unpopular. I couldn’t care less 😀. £28 well spent 😁. SPortshoes.com are ok 👍. My husband got me some Saucony Endorphin speed 1 from them. Only place that I could find the original version

Good hunting 🙂👍
