I woke up and just lay there weighing it all up. Do I, donβt I? If I donβt go now Iβll need to go at lunch which is a pain and Iβm not an after work runner - it hasnβt happened once! So up I got. It wasnβt too bad, although my legs were a bit tired from the gym and a long run on Sunday. Itβs definitely getting just a tad lighter which bodes well because after a winter of getting up in the dark to run before work, the novelty is starting to wear off just a bit! I managed just over 6.5k.
I saw a lady running whose path I cross fairly often. Sheβs finally got herself something fluorescent to wear which is great as she wasnβt easy to see before.
Itβs not a shadow of my square head in the picture by the way, rather my phone. Have a great day all! πππ

Ah thank you, and yes, it is the path we have chosen π. I am lit up like a Christmas tree to be honest, head torch, flashing vest and hi viz, you could see me from space. It takes an age to get out the door π€£. I donβt blame you for waiting until daybreak to get out. All the best π.
Speaking of being visible, Iβm just off out in my pink gear. I thought I didnβt like pink but I find it suits me now Iβm old π΅π»
Fluoro pink is supposed to be most highly visible, according to an article I read. My pink jacket is really bright, so much so that the postman covers his eyes in exaggerated fashion when he bumps into me π
So, Iβm just off out βin the pinkβ as it were, wearing my Saucony winter tights with their pink go faster stripes, pink Endorphin Speeds, pink merino Buff and my bright pink sun specs from Santa
With this lot on I should be visible from Mars ππββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
misswobble you are SO in the pink! I agree, pink is a nice colour to wear, thereβs just something about it, and thatβs interesting itβs the most visible colour. I hope you enjoy/enjoyed your pink run! All the best πππ.
For running when the hunters are out, I usually wear a bright fluo pink top, fluo yellow hi-vis vest and orange cap. Haven't yet resorted to adding jingly bells, but I might... ππββοΈβ°οΈπ²
I commend all you dark morning and evening runners. I wouldnβt I even if I could. We donβt have pavements nearby, the road outside the house is too busy and the common where I normally run is too scary and precarious, as are the fields. π± So well done you!
Thatβs one spooky photo, and I did wonder what the shadow was! π
Thank you cheekychipmunks! I have to say even now after months of running in the dark along here, I still get a bit spooked sometimes. A big owl swooped overhead and gave me the fright of my life this morning, but at the same time it was very special to see. Have a great evening π.
Regarding running before or after the sun rises or sets CC, the only run I have ever ran in the dark was a few weeks ago, I was stuck in the house all day waiting for an engineer to fix my gas central heating, I eventually got my 5K run ran at 6.45 pm well after the sun had set, I am lucky that the park near to where I live is lit up at night so there were lights on that part where I ran, but I certainly would not run at night if there were no lights on any route.
Sounds like thatβs exactly what you needed that day Al. π Yes, having a handy lit park is a bonus. Iβd need to drive to find one of those, and Iβm afraid my motivation to run after dark wouldnβt stretch to getting in the car! π
Lucky you having a lit park nearby! And pleased you got the heating fixed. Our boiler broke on new yearβs eve which wasnβt much fun. I had to go running to warm myself up π€£.
Sorry about your boiler breaking down on New Year's Eve, I hope you got it fixed quickly, well done on warming yourself up on running. The park near to where I live is in the middle of a residential area so the paths through the park are lit at night for people to walk from one part to the other, hence me being able to run at night.
Thank you! Apparently I was a nightmare as a toddler because I always got up so early and woke the rest of the house up. I admire folk who find the energy to do it later on π.
Actually I was reading this post yesterday while still in bed and it prompted me to get up and get ready for my run (That's why I forgot to reply π€£)Well done ! And love the picture (And the square head π€£)
Great spooky photo Frenc ! I'm absolutely not a morning person, especially at this time of year. I can manage morning runs in summer, to avoid the heat, but definitely not in winter.
Thanks Cmoi π. Iβve gotten more used to it, although the first time I did this route in the dark I was convinced there was all sorts hiding behind every tree ready to pounce. So far so good!
Oh poor you Sparky, I did wonder how you were as itβs not like you to not post, I nearly messaged you. I hope itβs not hit you too hard, and that you recover soon. One of my colleagues had it over Christmas, and as soon as she tested negative, she started C25K (again π€£), so hopefully youβll be back at it soon. π
I should have clarified my colleague didnβt have to go back to the beginning due to covid, rather she tried it about a year ago and stopped. Glad it just feels like a rough cold. π
