I cannot deny how hard it was to get out of my pit this morning! The gremlins were doing their early special - go at lunch, go tomorrow, you know how it is π. But I managed to shake them off, the trick I used was to not look out the window to see what the weather was doing as I knew that would really put me off.
Head torch strapped on and some banging tunes and off I went. It was light drizzle and really quite muggy so was glad I had short sleeves. I had to turn back half way along the country lane I like as there was a flood in a dip which threw me a bit, but I cobbled another route together.
Todayβs run was about proving that I can get up early when itβs dark and wet, and doing a nice little midweek distance. Iβm wanting to get back to 10 miles in the nearish future, and every km helps! I may even enter the GSR later today for next year π. Have a smashing day all! ππ

Ah thank you Ian! I just know what Iβm like - I could run at lunchtime from work, but Iβd have to take so much clobber with me and it always feels like such a rush. Iβve tried a dozen times to do it after work, but as soon as my backside hits the sofa it doesnβt get back up π€£. Youβre still welcome to join π€ͺπ! Have a good one, hope Mistyβs well π.
Thanks IP, it felt really good π. If I can just do the same on Friday morning it will be brill!
At 5:50 I was pouring milk in a bowl to eat my breakfast...
Well done and oh I am jealous! GSR sounds like such an amazing run and you can go to it! I have looked with envy at those medals from past weekend! I myself am wondering whether I would enroll in next years race at the coast end of July. It's in the evening and you can chose between 6K, 10K and 10 miles. It's a wonderful race, the first half is on the beach (VERY heavy) and then through forests. I'm only a bit scared that I won't make the cut-off time and get disqualified, being the slow poke that I am.
I actually did the 6K race 6 years ago when I ran (I only ran for a few months before I stopped again). You start just off the beach and run down loose sand to the slightly harder sand. Of course everybody started too fast, caught in the atmosphere so many people had to walk on the beach. It was hard going though, not soft sand but not hard either. Then it was up a dune in soft sand where everybody more crawled than ran. Crossing the main traffic road you enter the forest and run on concrete paths. The shade of the trees was lovely. It was 7 pm but still warm (end July). There was a water station in the middle of the run, justwhen entering the forest.
It was a really lovely race and I would love to enter it again. But I run slower now and really don't know if I would be able to finish before the end-time. But if they still organize the race, it is end July. So time enough to think about.
Iβm impressed too, rain almost stopped play for me when i climbed out of bed to find the niggle on the side of my ankle has a bit of swelling so thatβs my excuse, might walk and see what happens, wish i could run as fast as you, takes me an hour to run 6k
Thank you π. I was pleased with the pace I have to say! Sorry to hear about your ankle, I hope itβs starting to feel a bit better. Ah wouldnβt it be great to be bionic, I used to love that and the 6 Million Dollar Man. I digress, look after that ankle ππ.
Ankle is not too bad thanks, yes I loved the six billion dollar man too, back to work tomorrow, all i seem to have done is sit and eat, and run a bit too
Ah works a funny old thing, life can be fairly two dimensional without it. And it makes the breaks all the more worth it! Hope your boss recovers and that your days arenβt too, too long. π
Ah yes I really did have to give myself a finger wag! I wore a head torch, a bright white tee, a reflective not quite a vest thing, and bottom half of my leggings are hi viz yellow. So although not completely reflective, a lot of me was. I have this hi viz gilet from work, but itβs huge, so I donβt really like it. πππ
I've ordered some reflective tape which I will sew or stick on my jacket back and front! I usually take it off after 10" and have hiviz t, but those first 10" feel dicey.. Maybe ankle bands on velcro too!!!
Well done frenc. Youβre as early as me going out, out at 6.15 am just doing over a 3.22 km run. I do t have the head torches but have the pink jacket with reflector on sleeves and stick to local streets with lights. Got torch with me in case . I know how you feel about the gremlins pulling you back to bed but once youβve got one foot over the bed youβre away. Keep safe in early mornings .
