And what a difference it made! Thank you to everyone who recommended various torches, I ended up getting a Black Diamond ReVolt - think thatβs what itβs called. I was testing it on my balcony last night being a bit naughty really and sweeping the beam over peopleβs windows βcos I could! Anyway, I felt as though I was wrapped up in my own little light bubble, and how nice it was to do a very dark country lane with the moon for company.
For some reason I feel as though Iβm going faster than I actually am when I run in the dark, it seems harder to feel my pace. Not sure why.
It was a good run, I feel set up for the day now. Iβm going to hopefully do a long run Friday to start getting back to a HM distance again.
Have a smashing day! πππ

Hello Sparky! Yes, it deffo made a difference especially along the country lane that otherwise would have been pitch black. I am trying to up the distance again, but I think my impending holiday may have something different to say π€£. Anyway, hereβs to both our long runs on Friday! πππ
Well Iβm a bit annoyed because when I bought it, black was the cheapest. Now all the funky colours seem cheaper! I may need to put some day glow stickers on it! π
Ah thank you Ian! My other half was joking I needed to take a pick-axe with me, perhaps I could have swatted the moths with it. It was just nice to be able to do a route that otherwise would have been too dark. If someone had told me a year ago Iβd be running down a pitch black road at 6am with a light strapped to my head Iβd have checked their temperature π€£.
Ah thank you so much βΊοΈ. It was a bit weird, and I had to laugh at the dent in my forehead when I got home. I may have to put something under the torch bit in the future! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
I've been looking off and on all day for a torch, wondering if the chest strap ones are worth considering? Mmmπ€Maybe a post on advice if I don't get comments here..
Sounds fab - I love running in the dark and you definitely do feel like you are sort if cocooned in the darkness (in a good way!π€£)ππ½ββοΈπ¦
Thank you! Doesnβt it just. I remember when I started C25K last November I did a few runs in the dark, and being really surprised that I enjoyed it. π
Well done and Iβm glad you like your head torch. ππ I have a head torch but itβs too heavy and uncomfortable for running so I use it for camping and such. This has prompted me to look for a chest torch now while Iβm still on the IC π
Ah many thanks π. I did wonder if it might be a bit cumbersome, but I guess Iβve had to get used to strapping various things to myself for running. Best of luck with the chest torch search and I hope youβre not on the IC for too long. π
Youβll run slower I guess once youβre out there as itβs instinctive to pick your way more carefully over obstacles in the dark. Itβs like it happens automatically. I pick my feet up more too I notice
