Head Torch Recommendations

Hello there! Can anyone give me advice or recommendations re head torches? It’s dark now on my early morning runs, and being able to see where I’m going would not only be safer, but would give me more scope for my routes. Thank you 😊.

So, having always used a Petzl with batteries, I finally needed to change. A good Petzl was too pricey for both OH and myself to get them so decided to get an Aennon from Amazon.100% recommend it for running. Recharges easily, it gives a good light and is adjustable. The charge lasts a long time, too.

Thank you for replying 😊. Yes, those Petzls do look a bit pricey, the Aennon looks much better value and has good reviews. Might just be the one - that or eat more 🥕🥕🥕😁.

I have a chest light - just my preference as I don’t like wearing head torches. It has a back light too. Link below🙂

Ooooh I never thought of a chest light, that’s something to throw into the mix. Or both?! Thank you for replying 😊.

Thanks so much for the heads up. I've just ordered it. I wear over ear head phones and thought it sounded complicated to wear both. I like the thought of back reflectors too. No street lights where I run. 👍

Brilliant - hope you like it! Will be digging mine out for my after work runs any day now!🔦🙂

I use a Lidl head torch I got last autumn. Takes three AAA cells which can be rechargeables.

Ah thank you. I always forget about Lidl and Aldi, I need to get myself along there to see what they have on offer! 😊😊😊

Next time I see the "Specials" with such sports equipment I'll do a post here.

Just a note to say I have a Petzl Tikkina, which takes AAA batteries, and rechargeables seem to work fine in it. (I already had some Panasonic eneloop pro batteries and a charger so I just gave them a try and they seem to work OK).

Lighter than the LIDL one I picked up with inbuilt rechargeable, and the "Gritin" also with built in rechargeable I bought in the Amazon summer sale for £7 is in between. The latter I suspect has a bike LED array in it - very bright!

Thank you FP 😊. Weight is something I hadn’t really thought about, so definitely something to take into consideration. I shall have a Google. There’s so much choice, my head’s spinning a bit 😁.

There may be some Aldi shops with this £2.99 (including batteries) head torch still in stock:

I have a black diamond USB rechargeable headtorch, it wasn't dear, I'll find a link...

Ok, mine is out of date, I paid about 23 pounds for it, the Iota, 150 lumens

This one is newer, brighter, and cheap too

This one is similar and good too

I’ve got an ledLenser. It was £14.99 when I got mine it’s now about £40 😳

It’s not strong enough in pitch dark though such as on the trails, so bear in mind where you’ll be running

Petzyl are good 🙂

Ah thank you Miss Wobble! Yes, everything is getting more and more expensive isn’t it 😣. Quite a few people have mentioned Petzl, I’ll take another look. And I’ll keep eating the carrots 🥕 in the meantime 😁.

Check out the headtorch lumens table which is broken down according to uses, which makes choosing easier I don’t know if the chest torch is included or if that has its own info
