Four weeks to go! HM training Run 25 - 10 miles πŸ˜€

Busy week at school last week and worked Monday so couldn’t do my usual long run. Managed a short run before work on Wednesday and 10k on Saturday.

I really needed to clock up another long run this week and today was the day!

I learnt lessons from my β€˜epic’ a few weeks ago so I checked the route, took extra water, put an extra layer in my hydration vest and also packed a protein bar. I wore trail shoes due to varied terrain - road, grass, pebbles, fields and stony tracks. Decided to leave Squiggy at home because he was a bit tired and also an extended part of the route was on a pavement alongside a busy main road.

Set off later than usual (about 9) because it was cooler and overcast, although still quite humid so I soon warmed up! Usual route down the old railway line, along lanes to the beach (nearly high tide) but then a new route across the railway line through fields and onto the next village. Next alongside a main road to the next village then back down to the beach. Felt good all the way and could have run for longer but had planned for hubby to pick me up. I was amazed how well I judged the distance this time - clocked up 16.16km and then walked along the beach for short distance to finish.

Feeling pleased with training and more confident about my HM in October 😊

Sunday -first Canicross event! 10km trail route. Planning to walk any parts of the route that are slippery or too uneven to try and avoid injury! 😬

Looks like such a beautiful 10 miles route! (Although I panic at level crossings and try to a pod them by all means 🀣🀣). Beautiful!

And great 10m run.

Really looking forward also to seeing canicross pics! I am fascinated by canicrossing, but we actually do not have a dog. So very jealous. 🀣🐾

Yes, I am very lucky - lots of lovely routes around here 😊. The railway line is a heritage railway and they don’t run on Monday - but I still checked πŸ˜‚ πŸš‚! Yes, the Canicross will be fun as long as I don’t trip over! Action photos will be tricky since hubby can’t come with me - I will try a selfie but not while running πŸ˜‚πŸΎπŸΆ

Well done! My own judgment of distance has currently gone right out the window, but obviously you’re using it right now 🀣

Good luck on Sunday, hope you both enjoy it, Merlin and I are at a two day event ourselves πŸ‘

It’s one we did a couple of years ago. If the rain keeps up it will be a 5k swim as there is a lot of surface water up there 🀣

Fantastic SS, beautifully judged. πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I don’t blame you trying to avoid injury. It’s on my mind too, as I’m racing this weekend. But not Canicross - how exciting for you and Squiggy! Have a blast and please post lots of photos. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ•πŸ’₯πŸŽ‰

It sounds as if you finished strong on that run Sue. Always a great sign that you’re clearly ready for your HM!

Lovely photos and how great that there’s even a path made ready for you on a few routes πŸ™‚

Good luck for Sunday and enjoy πŸ€

Ooh yes, don't pick up a canicross injury when the training is going so well

Yes Linda I am a bit concerned - perhaps a Canicross event so close to the HM wasn’t such a good idea!! 😬🐾🐢

Oh super run, well done! Are you going beyond 16 K or are you leaving that for for race day? Lots of people do, I intend to get a bit nearer the distance for my HM.

Hi Curlygurly, I ran (well, a bit of walking uphill) over 20km a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to fit in a loooong run before term started in case things got hectic and I was too tired. Hoping to run another long run (maybe 18-20km) before the event if possible. 😊
