I've stopped running because I suspect I have knee tendinitis.... Undiagnosed as yet. it doesn't hurt when running oddly enough but very painful to kneel on. Anyone any suggestions? The front of the knee is not sore...just difficult to bend like normal.

Could be runnerβs knee aka patella femoral syndrome; I would be booked into the physio pdq. Tricky things knees. π

Maybe you need to rest it for several days and see how it goes π

There are so many possibilities with knee pain. Could you visit a private physio to get it properly diagnosed? It would be the fastest way back to recovery. Either way, definitely give ot a week or two of rest apart from gentle walking - maybe introducing some brisk walking after a few days if it starts to settle and it doesn't aggravate it. Good luck and speedy recovery.
