This run had worried me all week. The distance seemed to be over a sort of mental barrier- the difference between achievable and bloomin impossible. Anyway it wasn’t 😊 I’ve been following the distance runner Nick Butter who is running the coast of the UK right how. He said he wasn’t a particularly fit runner, just extremely stubborn . I’m going with that attitude 😊.

Thought I’d avoid off road due to last night’s deluge but managed to find a puddle over my ankles in the road at about 3 miles. πŸ’¦ It was rather near a farm and suspiciously green brown. So, now after my nice drink of milk (cows aren’t all bad) I’m going for a welcome shower.

Great run Comfortnotspeed, well done for getting over that 15k barrier, you’re all set now for 16.1 or your 1st 10mile run with that fantastic determination to achieve.

Ooh fabulous! What a great mental barrier to conquer. Just a tiny bit further and there's a 10 mile badge waiting for you when you are ready (16.1km)

Crikey that is amazing...15 k goal would make me nervous...I think determination wins every time. What's the next goal???😁😁

Those puddles that leave an aroma as you pass through always make me suspicious...the beauty of rural running 🀭🀭

I think the goal is going for the September HM and doing it injury free 🀞

Ah never mind, we get used to running on all sorts. I lost my money and house key in a field full of cow shiteπŸ™„πŸ„πŸ˜. What don’t kill ya …… πŸ˜ƒ

Yep, running longer is a mental game. If you can keep yourself occupied mentally then that’s all to the good. I have chosen certain tunes to help me πŸ™‚

Good luck with it πŸ™‚πŸ‘

Ah no! That must have been a sticky business πŸ˜‚

I had what I thought was a good strategy yesterday to trick my brain. (It doesn’t take much) I ran the last 5k on my usual 5k course. Just kept telling myself β€œcome on this is just 5k, you know where you are”.

Surprisingly, it really worked well!

I had to climb two farm gates to get in and out so got my hands covered in poo as well. I was sure not to touch any part of myself til I reached civilisation. A young mum gave me some wet wipes πŸ˜‡. I was locked out of my house though 😫

As you do more long runs you get better at the mental side of things. It’s tougher in winter when it’s cold, wet and dark πŸŒŠβ„οΈπŸ’¨β›„οΈ You tend to zone out at times

I hadn’t thought about the winter. I’m still trying to pick a 10 mile route preferably without water hazards!

Ha ha! I will. Mainly sitting and reading my new stretching book today instead of actually doing any πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Stretching is goooood πŸ˜ƒ. yoga is as well If you finish training runs a-ways from home then the walk back helps iron out the kinks

Ah, absolutely love yoga. My favourite part of the week is yoga class.

You've done 15km. Ten miles (16.1km) is the logical next step, and well within the 10% rule.

The progression if strictly doing 10% would be

15.0 β†’ 16.5 (just over 10 miles) β†’ 18.2 β†’ 20.0 β†’ 22.0 (HM+) β†’ 24.2 β†’ 26.6 (MM+)

Yes. 10 miles is next on the NRC plan. Can’t go for it next weekend as I’m away. I’m extending β€œ8 weeks to go” on the plan over two weeks as I think the extra rest days will help.

Mentally, though, I feel as if I can do it.

🌸😊🌸

I'm expecting away in the middle of July and will be doing my 18km and 20+km runs during those weeks. My running kit's coming with me.

Ten mile NRC is with Coach Bennett. You’ll be fine. It might be the one when he tells the funny story about his brother πŸ˜‚

Super well done! That’s some distance, and I absolutely agree about it being a mental barrier - but you proved you could do it, splatty puddle or not πŸ˜†. Now you can put your feet up and glow! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ€©πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Congrats on your 15k!

I sometimes feel unsure before the start of longer runs. I find it helps to tell myself that I'm going to run it at a nice easy pace.
