Any tips
I would say just keep doing what youโve been doing Paul. I would be careful about changing your approach at this point. I kind of made that mistake in changing my pace strategy a week prior by listening to a coach friend. It did not ruin the race but I have since run that distance using my original approach with somewhat better success. One thing to stay on top of is nutrition approaching and moving beyond 30k. I did take steady nutrition every 8k or so which I think helped pull me through the last bit (as opposed to eating only when I felt hungry) The 30k โwallโ was still there but was much more manageable. That wall will vary based on your pace and walk/run mix I think. In any event youโve already hit the longer distances in your training so you likely know what you are in for at that point, so donโt stress on it. Youโve put the training in. Youโve got this! Best of luck!!
I canโt give you any advice Paul but I just want to wish you good luck ๐
Hi Paul, I found I got fed up with the sweet stuff, and at about 20 miles I had something savoury, I also had a small packet of hula hoops which really hit the spot at about 22-24 miles, misswobble swears by them! Good luck, but donโt change anything youโre used to ๐๐ช

Wow Paul, way out of my league, but I hope it goes well for you. Please tell us all about it. Youโll be amazing Iโm sure! ๐๐โโ๏ธ
Be ready for 'The Wall" if it hits you. If it happens like it did me - you will think its your body that can't go on, but try to remember it really is your mind.At a little over 23 miles in mine, I honestly would have sat down in a heap and called an Uber, I felt that "done". Luckily, I had no choice but to go on - I ran it on an isolated Bike/Walk path in California and didn't even know if a road was closer than my exit/finish line.
I walked miserably for about five minutes - and then could run again. More a shamble than a run - but I finished
Wishing you every resource you may need to have a GREAT run
The walk is a good thing! Have a drink, have a snack, have a think, blow your nose. Move off ๐๐ช๐
Its a very weird feeling - it wasn't even so much "tired" as "what the hell am I doing?" Felt very dark and disorienting. I'm curious what my perception will be like IF there is a next time, now I've experienced it once
2021 Marine Corp Marathon applications open in Feb lol.
I also just wanted to wish you all the best Paul...you can do this!๐ช๐
I think it helps to remember that everyone here is thinking about you and cheering you on!
Good luck ๐
My biggest tip is to remember we will all be, wherever we are, cheering you on and rooting for you every step of the way. Think of us and all that goodwill heading your way. We will eagerly await your post-run post!Other than that, nibble and drink little and often and believe in yourself every step of the way. If you feel tired remember your inspiration and you will be over that finish line with a massive sense of pride and well being before you know it.
You've got this. And we're right behind you!
