After weeks of damp grey gloomy weather, the first day of Lockdown Mark II was, of course, glorious. Drifting mists giving way to blue skies, sunshine through the trees, cool morning breeze... the works.
However, having been woken from deep sleep by my husband asking me to find and print off the latest version of the "permission to go out" document so he could go to buy bread before it sold out, I was in no state to take advantage of any of it.
I then spent most of the day in front of the computer, getting angrier and more frustrated by the minute, until finally deciding to head out just after 5.00pm. Better late than never...
Given the 1km radius 1 hour limit I had to be creative with my route, so experimented with an entirely new combination of mostly uphill roads and downhill forest paths. Had to slow almost to a walk, or more accurately a stumble, on one muddy, overgrown, branch-littered downhill stretch and nearly went flying a couple of times. Got back onto roads after that as it was getting dark and near my deadline time!
Really pleased I went out though as I feel much better for it, and stats came in above my expectations: 7.01k, 51:37, 7.22/km, 185m. Also glad I stopped during my warm-up walk to take a picture, which I'm sharing with you.
And I've just realised today is exactly four months since I completed C25K. Wow. Shocked.
Thanks again to all for your support, and happy running to all!
