We got locked down, but I can run again, even though it isn't very far!

After weeks of damp grey gloomy weather, the first day of Lockdown Mark II was, of course, glorious. Drifting mists giving way to blue skies, sunshine through the trees, cool morning breeze... the works.

However, having been woken from deep sleep by my husband asking me to find and print off the latest version of the "permission to go out" document so he could go to buy bread before it sold out, I was in no state to take advantage of any of it.

I then spent most of the day in front of the computer, getting angrier and more frustrated by the minute, until finally deciding to head out just after 5.00pm. Better late than never...

Given the 1km radius 1 hour limit I had to be creative with my route, so experimented with an entirely new combination of mostly uphill roads and downhill forest paths. Had to slow almost to a walk, or more accurately a stumble, on one muddy, overgrown, branch-littered downhill stretch and nearly went flying a couple of times. Got back onto roads after that as it was getting dark and near my deadline time!

Really pleased I went out though as I feel much better for it, and stats came in above my expectations: 7.01k, 51:37, 7.22/km, 185m. Also glad I stopped during my warm-up walk to take a picture, which I'm sharing with you.

And I've just realised today is exactly four months since I completed C25K. Wow. Shocked.

Thanks again to all for your support, and happy running to all! :)

What a gorgeous photo. Sounds like a very successful expedition too. That's got to feel better 😊

Thank you linda9389 , I feel so much more positive about finding lockdown routes now :)

The photo is very close to where I live - out the door, 50m up the hill and onto the forest path. Such a privilege!

Beautiful photo @Cmoi - and well done for getting out today. I am trying hard to limit my time looking at the news!😩 Here’s hoping that time will bring us all back to the world we miss - but it’s so tough some days just now, isn’t it? Run when you can, stay strong and stay safe.πŸ™‚πŸŒˆ

Yay!!! I’m so glad that you can get out and about during Lockdown Mark II! There are whispers here that we will be going back into a national lockdown too. #StaySafe

Well done for getting out there. It must be tough being in lockdown again. We're heading that way in the UK, but don't expect to need permission to go out paperwork hopefully.

Hello and thank you running twin Roxdog ! French bureaucracy is something else, and some days I'll need more than one form, depending on where I'm working. Hope whatever happens next where you are doesn't hit you too hard :)

At least the rules will be simpler in a proper lockdown! Won't make much difference to me really as I've been working from home for months and rarely see anyone anyway! Good luck and take care, at least you have that beautiful scenery to revel in!

That's really wonderful. Being able to go for run is critical at these times.

Thanks C3PO - yes, even if I can only manage a short time or distance it should give me a boost :)
