Soo I decided to take on LEJOG 6 (lands end to John o groats) virtual run. As always I like to have a bit of a plan and approach to getting this done.
I've decided to give jeffing a crack on the long runs (10mile plus). So I spent a bit of time reading up and chatting to running club folks and have decided on a split of 9 mins running 1 min walking.
Always a bit sceptical but really impressed, so far in the last 10 days I've done 2 HM distances and a 10 miler. Incorporating a few rest days and some easy 8-10k runs and a weekly speed/interval sessions. I'm really impressed with the technique and after both hm distances legs have been fine π€ just need some stretching out!
So onwards and upwards heres to Jeffing out a series of HM runs over the coming months while I cover the 874miles π€πββοΈ.
Happy Jeffing everyone! π€ͺ

Wow, who knew, Windoze? Iβm a stubborn βrun every stepβ kind of person, but it sounds like youβre really enjoying Jeffing. Fantastic. ππ
Enjoy LEJOG! Iβve just popped back onto the M5 again, having had a scenic jaunt on the A48. Iβm doing LEJOG4 and Iβm sure youβll be overtaking me with your gigantic distances! πββοΈπ₯
It's interesting stuff is Jeffing! I tried it for my last three long runs as I was increasing distance too quickly in a very short time to risk running it all. I noticed all sorts of benefits .. not least blister issues and pain were massively reduced despite the longer distances!!! I think post run recovery was less of an issue too. I thought I'd hate the stop start but actually it gave me a regular 'change' to look forward to and split the diatance up into small, really manageable chunks. I think there's lots of potential to experimenting with Jeff!!! Have fun π
How did you decide on the ratio out of interest? Mine was purely based on the max distance I wanted to run in total (so was actually a distance ratio) rather than on Jeff's pace based recommendations.
To be honest the shorter intervals recommended for beginners were just too short so someone in my club said they use 9/1 or 18/2 when training for ultras. Tried 9/1 got on great with it.
Sounds like a great plan Windoze and if you managed 2 HM's and a 10 miler in such a short space of time its obviously working very well for you. Good luck with your LEJOG journey also ππͺπ
Firstly wow for the hm distance!! But also the technique looks really cool! I might try out a few walking minutes in my last few miles in my long run tomorrow
I'm jeffing because my Garmin training plan (I picked one of three at random) tells me to. It's uncanny how it works. I jeff'd 11k using 90 to 30 on my normal hilly route, then the next week I ran, and the run was a good three minutes slower. I was not expecting that.
Hmmm..well I have plans to run a 10miler in the next few weeks so will make a comparison. I have previously ran these distances significantly quicker. I'm using it to extend and maintain my monthly milage buy a significant amount.
I was going to give Jeffing a go today Windoze but I was enjoying my run so much I couldn't face walking. I may well join you in the HMs though - the last one was quite tough so I reckon that may be the way to go, I like the idea of doing one a month so this might just give me the push I need. I've also got the big incentive of you being in catching distance on LEJOG if I keep going. Even if I don't catch you, you can make sure I actually finish the thing by being the dangling carrot in the distance π!
