My Welsh wet Wednesday run

β€’26 Replies

The rain this morning could only be described as biblical, I nearly tried getting a number for a man called Noah 🀭 it was bouncing down 🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️.

Husband taxi delivered Mrs Wife to the NHS establishment, darted home, created school sandwiches for hungry teenagers, and ahhhhhhh 7.45 the house is all silent 🀫.

I sourced my running attire, slight faffing over would a Jacket be too much πŸ™„, the jacket stayed at home, overheating isn't nice, oh yes more faffage trainer choice for some reason the brooks cascadia were a winning choice, the towpath is trail like in parts and the mud can get quite gloopy.. not knowing how far the legs wanted to run, I shoved a gel in my pocket, just in case ......

A bonus of iffy weather is my aqueduct route is visitor free πŸ‘ it's impossible to run across and try to distance yourself so I've been avoiding it of late. You can tell we've had rain by the noise of the river below the aqueduct, it's a definitely roar, but this just adds to the atmosphere of the run the views well they could easily consume you. A definite bucket list for any runners visiting the area.

I only saw one dog walker for ages, a cheerful morning greeting and we went our separate ways. There was a steady queue of boat traffic that had probably departed the marina in Llangollen..... GRUMBLE ALERT 🀬 as anyone knows towpaths they aren't the widest... And when walkers are standing slap bang centre, it can get a tad tricky to pass safely, even more infuriating is when they just refuse to stand aside, garmin heart rate at overload grrrrrr. Don't even start me on dog mess 😀😠😑🀬.

Back to running, the sounds today were definitely part of my run, from the satisfying crunch of the new gravel path, that was replaced by the random splashing of the puddles, but today's strange noise definitely running over a carpet of acorns, acoustically weird and at times even slippy. Leaving llangollen behind and heading back towards home, I'm sure it's too early for conkers but apparently not they're everywhere 🧐.

Conker fact tried and tested, get yourself some nice ones and dot them around the skirting boards and you should banish those kinda large house spiders πŸ•·οΈπŸ•ΈοΈ that wander in at this time of year.

My Wednesday run definitely felt Autumnal, and with that in mind, I'm pointing myself towards home to throw a cottage pie together ready for the returning hungry teenagers.....

Enjoy your running folks stay safe out there and go nail that run

A lovely lovely run lmc, it sounds perfect! I can confirm it is conker season here in the SW. I met a lovely lady out running on Monday who said when she came over from Singapore 10 years ago she thought they were chestnuts and cooked them! Mistake! πŸ˜©πŸ˜… Good tip about πŸ•· too. We have humongous ones here. 😱

I hope you got to eat some of the cottage pie after your very well deserved run! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Phew I was just about to try peel and steam a few conkers 🀫 I'll give it's miss 🀭 I would hope the teenagers leave a portion for dad especially as it was I that toiled over the stove 🀞

Brilliant run Imc50 and your right about the rain , it keeps lots of people indoors except us runners and dog walkers.

The size of the spiders recently are huge🀣

Hope you enjoyed your cottage pie, of there was any left😊

in reply to Buddy34

Re the cottage pie it's locked in the oven awaiting the arrival of Mrs Wife family teatime apparently ( I'm starving πŸ˜†) your Scottish weather looked sublime this morning πŸ‘not so in Wales πŸ™„

I had an enormous spider in my kitchen the other day. It was bigger than me! I odered it in a loud voice to get under the cooker and not to come back out til bedtime. I chased it with thundering feet. It complied immediately and it’s not been seen since 😁

Yikes the autumnal spider invasion πŸ•·οΈ

I used to have a jack Russell that would climb the curtains in pursuit of a juicy spider Sadly he’s chasing spiders in heaven, and OH is a wimp spider wise since a big un ran up the handle of his dustpan and up his arm πŸ™„

Think the spiders have been on the steroids🀣🀣

I'm not scared to look at them, its when they run it freaks me out

in reply to Buddy34

Nooooooooo just imagine having a few spare pairs of legs to carry on that run, when it's getting a little tiring πŸ•·οΈπŸ•·οΈπŸ‘

What a run! I only work in miles and this was a Half Marathon and done in great time too. This will fill you with confidence. To pull out a run like this with that pace is just terrific πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

That made me giggle. Raining in Wales? I have always said the heavens open differently in wales and it sounds like a good proper downpour. Great run IMc 😊
