I was seriously tempted to not run after work today due to the heat - and get up early tomorrow morning but I'm so glad I didn't!
I hung back until 6.00pm but it was still 26 degrees! I planned to just do a slow steady 5k - seeking out shade where I could on our leafy Downslink (old railway line) and meandering off through some local woodland and farmland.
I frequently say how much I struggle to run in the heat but this evening I seemed to settle into a sensible easy pace ...and had such a lovely run! π The niggly knee was niggle-free (still can't believe the difference the Hoka's have made! π€) and in the end I ran on to a 7k, just because I didn't really want the run to stop!
So back home and feeling chuffed - I only have 7k left to run now to achieve my GreatRun Solo Challenge. π
Happy running out there this week folk - and stay cool if you can! π

Brilliant Sandra, youβll exceed your target. Running in the shade is a great idea. According to mr garmin, it was only 19c in Southsea when we ran but it got very hot out of the breeze.
How wonderful! I think it must be something about the sun being less strong. I've realized that it isn't necessarily the temperature that gets to me, but the sun rays.
I agree about the sun - I tried to limit the amount of my route in full sun (although there was some) and although still hot, it does make it much more bearable.π
Sounds like a great run. I overslept this morning and was debating an evening run if it cools down. Hmm weβll see ... might wait till tomorrow morning ...
This is so encouraging that you are enjoying the run and the knee is appearing settled again!
Really well done Sandra! What a bonus run, made all the sweeter by the fact you werenβt expecting it to be. πππ
I ran my 10k at 7am and even though the air temperature wasnβt that hot, it was steamy. No way I could have done it any later - itβs now 27 degrees here. π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅
Well done Sandra, that was a great result, 7k in the heat and you enjoyed it too! I know how hot it was yesterday, I often run the Downslink, from Henfield, I'm afraid I copped out and ran this morning instead.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who hates running in the heat! This morning was 19 degrees at 6:30AM already I and found most of the run a struggle!
