Still mulling over which HM to aim for π― but in the meantime, OH and I have both booked places on the Cancer ResearchUK London Winter Run 10k in February. There are several smaller local 10ks that we are hoping to do over the spring but I do like a HUGE event sometimes too! This ones expensive but for a good cause and the blings fab...plus they have Polar Bear hugs!π I am hoping for an authentically chilly day too!π€βοΈπ
Booked first running event of the yea... - Fun Beyond 10K & ...
Booked first running event of the year!ππ½ββοΈπ
I'm booked for that one too! I think there are quite a few HUers doing it. Have you done it before?
I'm doing the Winter Run too! Also hoping that it will be a chilly day - a friend and I did the ASICS 10K in London last July, and it was sweltering.
I am doing the "Big Half" HM on 1 March - gulp! Other than that, the only major HM I know of in London is the Royal Parks one, which usually happens in October.
Oh, I'm not in London actually but it's a quick train ride away. We did the London Vitality10000 last year and really enjoyed it. My nearest HM this spring is the Surrey Half in early March. My husband got a ballot place in the London Landmarks HM, which is at the end of March so I will be there supporting him! Part of me would like to do a trail HM but they tend to be pretty hilly - not sure I want hills AND 13 miles of running! Decisions...decisions...!π
Alas - not sure that I will make the Winter Run now as I have come down with something nasty. As long as it has cleared by the end of the month I should be OK, though.
Oh brilliant Sandra, thatβs sure to be huge fun. π I agree about wanting to do a huge event, so my daughter and I are doing the London Vitality 10000. I have 4 events entered this year so far. Bring them on! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Iβm also doing the Winter run! Did it last year and really enjoyed it.
Great - sounds like theres lot of us doing this one!π
Would you suggest anywhere that would work as a meetup point for anyone who fancies it? It's clearly going to be very busy!
Not sure how easy it is to meet up as there are lots of different start times. The Canadian Embassy is a good prominent location in Trafalgar Square close to the bag drop and the walk to the start.
Well done Sandraj39, Iβm doing the Winter Run too! I did it last year and got a PBπββοΈπββοΈ I seem to remember there were 30,000 or so of us!π³ I think there are loads of us on HU doing it this year, so the hardest part might be meeting up with friendsπ
After that Iβm aiming for Weymouth HM in March and Vitality London 10,000 in May.
Good luck with everything!ππππ
Me too! Me too! I signed up for the London Winter Run only last night. I was determined to stay away from large events so soon into my running journey (Iβve only been running 9 months) but linda9389 got the better of me! And al that advertising yes and the medal looks a beauty.
I thought it was expensive mind but I suppose itβs London, itβs going to be massive and itβs a good cause after all. Canβt really argue with that.
I look forward to meeting fellow HUers on the day, yes please to a pre or post run meet-up Iβm coming on my own x
I remember we looked at that one before going for the vitality 10000 too. It will be great if you can do a VRB meet up too.
The medals are usually really pretty for this one π Hereβs wishing you a proper chilly day Sandra βοΈπ
Iβm on the winter 10K too! πββοΈππββοΈπ
Any more for any more?
Better late than never, I've just had my place on the Winter 10k in London confirmed!! For those thinking of trying to either transfer a place or get one transferred to you, I can say that it is not straight forward!! Anyway, all done now. Not done it before, can't wait. For those who have, I assume the whole bag drop/collection thing works efficiently?
