Just done 12k in the build up to my 1st 1/2 marathon which is scheduled for May but as with all things at present I fear it will be either cancelled or at best postponed. Obviously everyone’s health is far more important but nowhere in my training plan did it mention taking a 6 month breather.

Will it be a waste of effort
It looks like this Autumn is going to be a very busy time for long distance running events with all the Spring events cancelled because of you know what.
I don’t think there will be a waste of effort unless you see it that way. Nothing says you need to stop training in that 6 months (or whatever it becomes) You can reach your distance goal and just keep strengthening it until they give you the green light.
The next spring HM group post will be on this very subject - so many races, so many people affected in the dame way. But training is never wasted. Arguably every run is just a training run for the next one 😀
Not a waste... ever... and as roseabi says,, check out the link!
Hopefully your HM will offer a virtual option assuming we’re all not forced to self isolate Stuart. 🤞
A lovely lady (not on here) set up a Virtual Bath Half FB page which now has over 1.000 members and we all ran our HMs solo or in small groups yesterday in the hope that Bath will still send us our medals once we’d posted proof that we ran. We all wore our race T-shirt’s and numbers and it felt like we were all part of something special. 😍 Bath still went ahead, but only 6k out of 15k showed up.
Maybe an option for your race too? I agree, it would be such a shame to waste your training. ☹️
Mine got canned with 2 weeks to go. I intended to maintain the current level of fitness and springboard from it with a vengeance for the next race I can get my "hands on" 🤣🤣🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
My HM this weekend got canned yesterday. I shall keep running as I’m thinking of running the distance as the organiser says we can have the medal on receipt of proof that we’ve done it
It would makes sense to run it now I’ve done the training 🏃♀️
