8K long run in my new shoes today! (Photo will come, promise!)

Ran just under 8K today with a running group (my last long run before the race, yikes...) this morning! Well, I say 'long run'. It was more of a moderately paced run to be honest because I wasn't used to the speed the group was going at so a lot of the run was me lagging behind by quite a few metres! But I didn't let that bother me and I eventually got into my groove about halfway through, once I realised that I was going too fast and adjusted my pace accordingly to what I felt I could manage! I had a few sharp shooting pains going through my right knee again though about halfway through and my right hip flexor began to hurt towards the end too! My knee still feels a bit uncomfortable to be honest which does put me on edge a bit with the Bath Half coming up so soon! I'm wondering if my knee and hip pain was caused by maybe my new shoes or it was just because I was going at a considerable faster pace than I was used to today. Probably the latter...

It was perfect running conditions too, today was the first time that I went out on a run without my running jacket on! It did rain heavily a few times so got a bit wet but overall the weather was perfect!

I also finally tested out my new running shoes on today's run and I had no real issues which is promising, I even forgot that I was wearing new shoes at one point! My toes still had enough room at the end of the run and didn't feel constricted in the toe box even with my thickest pair of running socks on! And the heel slippage I was experiencing when I was walking in my new trainers was almost non-existent when I was running, so that's good news! And no bleeding or blisters where I usually get them! There are a few new areas of my feet that do feel a tiny bit sore, so I just have to be aware of them and tape them up if necessary. Overall, they were quite comfortable to run in! But the real question is, do I wear them on race day in a week's time??? :-D

Another good run and what better way to distract from the thought that there's only 7 more sleeps to go 🤪. Only you can know which shoes are going to be most comfy on the day. Maybe keep wearing the new ones this week to see how they feel. Weather still looking good for next Sunday too 👍🤞

Those shoes sound more promising Redcello. I agree with Linda - wear them a lot this week to get used to them. Your old blister inducing ones don’t sound much fun for next weekend!

Next weekend! I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait! 👏👏👏👏
