Well, today was the day of the Chester 10K...after a few nerves the night before I was happy to wake up feeling pretty calm and ready to take on the challenge π€¨
My son played chauffeur which was fab as I'm not a keen driver, and though there were almost 5000 runners expected he managed to find a quiet route in and a free parking spot 10 minutes from the event! Good lad π
I was thrilled to meet up with the lovely Cantstopmenow with husband and chocolate lab as race support, it was the 1st race for both of us so made it extra special to meet one of our VRB's too π
CSMN was running in the Orange wave at 9, and me the blue wave at 9.30.
The weather was definitely on our side, it was calm and dry with a cool breeze and the sun peeping through on occasion π₯...in fact it was my 1st time this year running in capri pants and t-shirt, looking forward to many more!
The route was lovely too, running out of Chester to a little village called Mollington, then back into the city centre past the Cathedral and ending by the bridge and clock at the old city walls.
The only bit I found truly challenging was a hill at around 8/9K that had me thinking I'd pushed myself too fast but once that was behind me I picked up pace a little and ended with a watch time of 1:03.34 and a chip time of 1:04.17...either way a PB from my previous 1:05.40 which is always nice.
All in all I don't think CSMN or I could have had a much better 1st race experience, great day πββοΈπββοΈπ
