After completing RED January I was starting to question if I would ever run again. I wasn't injured from running everyday without a day off, but I was fed up. Running is supposed to be good for mental health, and RED January was supporting MIND, but in my experience it just became an added stress I could have done without.

"Naive enough to start, stubborn enough to finish" has become my mantra, which is why I carried on to the end. But after enjoying a couple of days off, I've struggled to find the motivation to run again.

Yesterday's post about motivation kicked my backside so I was determined to get my running shoes back on.

I found to many excuses to run last night, was too tired to get up early this morning, ended up falling asleep when I planned to run this afternoon, but finally got myself out for a 10K jaunt tonight.

And didn't it feel good!

The last few days of not running have definitely been good for my legs. It was probably my best run yet. Weather was good, the route was good, and now I'm home, I'm feeling good.

If it wasn't for this HM group, I may not have got out tonight, and I'm so glad I did, so Kudos and thanks to y'all.

This beer is for you, Cheers 🍺

Yay! Great job! Glad you made it - even better that you enjoyed it.

(confession time - I wrote a motivation post then ducked out of my ride yesterday, whinging about the weather! got back out there today though so not too bad).

Ahhh.... It's good to see even the greatest stumble every now and then 🀣 to be fair though, the weather is a huge factor at play when choosing when and where to venture, so totally understandable that you might opt out of your plans.

Glad you managed to get out today instead though.

Too kind! I don't mind running in bad weather, but I find cycling is a real struggle in cold, wet or wind!

Oh, definitely a struggle, but riding in snow is fun, especially when it's deep enough not to be able to see the ditch on the side of the path... And yes, I'm speaking from experience 🀣🀣

A decent coat and a good pair of gloves and I don't mind getting caught in the rain, but it certainly is a challenge to go out in it if it's raining before you leave. More often than not, I don't have the luxury of choice as cycling is my only way to get to work so I'm pretty used to Mother Nature now.

Running every day for the whole month was a great achievement and you deserved the days off.

Glad you got back out there and enjoyed it so much as you are doing so well with your runs πŸ˜€

Yeah, it was good. And according to Strava, my fastest 10k and 5k yet. Not sure about my fastest 5K, as it's 3mins slower than my fastest Parkrun, but I guess my GPS only measures my Parkruns as 4.7K so Strava never seems to clock those 5k speeds.

At 49mins, it was a good 10K effort. Want to hit 45mins so definitely on the right path!
