Can't say I enjoyed that 4K run much...

Wow, I literally hated everything about that run...everything felt difficult and my body just did not want to respond for some reason! I felt like I was doing high effort but going at a snail's pace, it was so hard! There were plenty of times that I wanted to give up and walk especially during the last half of the run. I kept on looking down at my watch willing it to finally say 4K, and got annoyed when it had said that I had only done 3 and a bit. The last hundred meters were so painful! I've done an 8K before and I was going at a fast-ish pace and it felt fine. But today I did half that distance and it was horrible!

BUT I still did it and that's what matters! Hopefully my 3K run on Monday won't feel as difficult...

Funny how we get runs like this sometimes, isn't it? You could be fighting off an infection, tired, who knows...or it could just be "one of those runs"! Great that you did it anyway - I think runs like this make us stronger mentally. So well done and here's hoping your next one sees you flying like the wind!🙂

Thanks! Yes, I am at a tailend of a cold, felt tired and ran out of my normal routine which probably doesn't help anything! And all my old insecurities and gremlins were back out to play as well which was frustrating too! But yes, you are right, these sorts of runs definitely make us mentally stronger! :-D

Some runs are just like that! Feels like the end of the world at the time but given you completed it, it was actually a very successful training run. You know you can take control even when mind and body are screaming 'enough already'.

Yes so true! I checked all my stats from the run when I got home and I found something very interesting with my heart rate stats. On a run that normally feels okay my average heart rate is usually roughly around 150 bpm and peaks at around 170 bpm but that peak usually lasts for about 2 minutes during the run. But on today's run, my average heart rate was 160 bpm and peaked at 180bpm and lasted for 15 minutes! So those stats tells me that my body wasn't happy about something!

Sounds like you're still not 100 %. Lots of tlc between runs 😍

Yeah, definitely took me by surprise. My resting heart rate was 20 higher as well yesterday. Will look after myself and see if I can run 3k on Monday 😃
