Hi, Having a bit of injury/ache on my lower left calf. Did a 5k yesterday and it came on half way, dull ache and tight. Been niggling for a couple of weeks. Am going to take a week off running and just do gym with walks and stairclimber and spinning. No impact stuff.
I was thinking of trying compression socks. Not sure how to use them to their best. I bought some yesterday and was looking at some more on sportshoes.com. They are everything from 9.99 for 2 pairs to £40 per pair. I am not a brand slave and run in higher state and decathalon stuff so any advice would be greatly received.
THANKS

I searched around last summer online looking for compression socks for an old ankle injury but couldn’t find what I was looking for. I found it all a bit too much choice and in the end didn’t get anything. It’s hard when you can’t touch the socks and feel the strength of the compression. Sorry I can’t advise but I’m sure someone will be along who can help.
The cheaper ones are likely to just be stretchy long socks. The important measurements are calf and ankle circumference. If the fitting guide doesn’t mention those then most likely they won’t do much. Your shoe size is not a good indicator of how thick your legs are.
I use calf sleeves. Easier to get the right size and you don’t have to wash them every run.
Just looked and Decathlon do them in the Kiprun range.
Hi, I had a calf injury some time ago and brought a couple of pairs of compression socks from amazon. One of the cheaper range, think they were calves Kelson. Have no regrets and now wouldn’t run without them.
