Muddy trails 1 - Waterproof socks 0 😏

Another muddy, wet one for me today. 11k mostly trail and as you can see, it doesn't take much rain at the moment to turn the saturated ground into a series of never ending muddy puddles! πŸ’¦ (bottom left pic is actually a stream and no, I didn't run through that, although I wouldn't have got much wetter!πŸ˜‰). Some of the smaller paths were worse - very churned up and almost impossible to run in places ( staying upright is a challenge but definately a good workout for the legs!) What can I say - my Hoka Challenger trail shoes drained well (again and again!) and the first outing for my new Dexshell "waterproof" socks was a fail! A bit disappointed as my last pair (which were identical) were great! Never mind, not that bothered by wet feet and at least it wasn't cold! Hope everyone has a great week of running - healing vibes to anyone on the injury couch.πŸ™‚x

Ewww! I did think of you today as I was weaving along the towpath attempting to dodge mud and puddles - embrace it like Sandraj39 and aliboo70 I kept telling myself πŸ˜‚. But the 'I'm scared of slipping and hurting something' gremlin stayed firmly in charge! Well done to you and the Challengers :)

Thank you Linda - these really are my favourite (and slowest! ) runs! πŸ™‚

Mmm... I think that gremlins brother most living with me at the moment!

There are less helpful gremlins for sure, but I don't mind giving this one a bit of house room. Mud/slippy = slow in my book πŸ™‚

Mud mud glorious mud 🎡🎢🎡🎢 what fun you’ve been having!

I’m hoping to try out my trail shoes out this week but hoping for a cleaner path than you had Sandra

Oh my goodness....now that is seriously wet and muddy.... absolutely wonderful.... go you.

This running makes loopy, lovely folk of us all doesn't it... and we just embrace every single step.

Hopefully drier and sunnier days may be waiting in the wings:) x

Yeah The trails are a tad vile at the mo. 🀨 That sideways slow-motion slew, hoping you don’t tip over. Ah dear. Fun but Exhausting when you can hardly pick your feet up I waded through deep mud the other day trying to get off the trail and it was just like clay. It’s gonna be hell when it dries out. Judder 😁

Sorry your socks let you down 🀨. Boo !

well done, I have often considered getting waterproof socks but wondered if I would get just as wet anyway die to my feet sweating?!

My last pair were great (until they developed a hole!) and never felt too warm. Perhaps they've changed them- or maybe I just expected too much! I don't wear them that often - so not the end of the world.πŸ™‚

Omigods that’s a full on mud fest. The Challengers are brilliant at draining. I honestly wouldn’t bother with waterproof socks. I just wear my hilly mono skin ones: the Challengers drain so well that your feet stay warm and feel dry even though your socks are still damp.

Brilliant run, well done xx

I doubt any socks would be waterproof in that Sandra! Just think of all that goodness in the mud though, people pay for that stuff you know πŸ™€πŸ˜‚

Fab sounding run, good for you πŸ‘ xxx

That looks like an amazing muddy run and such a shame your new socks don’t work so well.

Glad you enjoyed your run even with wet feet :)
