It turns out the pain in my lower calf, which has been getting increasingly worse is in the anterior compartment, found at the front of the lower leg, just to the outside of where the shin bone can be felt. So I have to stop running for at least a week, and have only managed a few miles this week. I’ll be switching to cycling to maintain what fitness I can and might still be able to do my target marathon on 1st March, but right now I should really be increasing my volume.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Oh no, that's not what you wanted to hear! Was that a sports physio diagnosis? I haven't had anything like that, but I can highly recommend cycling as a way to keep up/improve fitness if it doesn't aggravate your injury. Lots of corr/cardio workouts available online with no weightbearing too. It all takes a bit more time tho! Don't give up yet! Speedy healing.

Hello, I am really sorry to hear this update. I am afraid I don't have experience to share, but am sending you healing vibes and hope you can find alternative outlets for those running legs.
