After Thursday's "what am I doing here?" awful slow 11k, I was so glad to get out for a hilly 5k with a smile on my face this morning. It was raining, but who cares. Best time for those hills yet, both up and down; in fact I flew down them! I think that much of the pace improvement was down to reduced friction...my bottom lip wasn't dragging along the ground! Only silver lining in a problem filled week is that you feel so much better once you have cracked them!
So, I have decided that the 11k was the start of my HM plan (easy to improve from a low base!) and today was a hard 5k. Back in gear and following a plan....it doesn't take much!! The conditions are so soft over much of my usual long route that I suspect that the long run will have to be 2x today's route π¬. Happy running folks π

Well done for getting out in the rain - it was drizzly at parkrun here too. An HM plan eh? Does that mean youβve signed up for a race while I wasnβt looking? π§
No. I will enter the GNR ballot which opens in January for next Autumn, but I have started looking for a Spring HM. Trouble is the local ones are insanely hard for someone of my seniority. Not called Hardmoors for nothing! On the look out though. π
That is the one with βHeart Attack Hillβ sounds out of my league. Slept in this morning (not accidentally) so did my own 5k. Glad you enjoyed Flatts Laneπππ
Yep ! I will tweak/adapt it as I go along of course. I nearly had a JP moment avoiding a dog this week. I felt a tweak in my calf but thankfully nothing developed. Luck of the draw!
Good job BC...sometimes the long ones feel like such a challenge, but all it takes is one good run to get us back on track! And boy are the good ones worth the wait, nothing like a post run grin ππββοΈπ
