We got back on Sunday night from our summer in France to the reality of the Great South Run being just 5 weeks away, plus the Lincoln 10k on Hallowe’en. I haven’t run more than 10k non stop for months and months so some serious training required, if only to counteract the effects of too much wine and viennoiseries 😋 The plan went out of the window straight away, as it never stopped raining on Tuesday, so my 11k run was postponed to yesterday. Cool, dry day and back to my normal flat route after the hilly vineyards! Not a fast run at 1 hour 16, but it was non stop. I’m going to increase 1km a week on a long run and hopefully will hit it right.
The second part of my strategy and to at least give me a fighting chance was to drop into the Lincolnshire Runner for an updated gait analysis with my very tired Hokas (800km on the clock!) As a result I now have these beauties to try out on my return to real parkrun on Saturday. I still need a support shoe and these also have Tigger springs at mid foot and good arch support, so I have high hopes! Au revoir Hoka and bienvenue Saucony, at least for now 😃

We love new shoes. I am sure you will get back to 10niles with no problem at all. I think I’ll be in my saucony s too. I am rotating them with 2 pairs of brooks at the moment.
Imelda Marcos? Moi? I wasn’t sure about the Brooks 19s or 20s after loving the 18s. So I thought I’d try saucony hurricane! They all get rotated so will get their wear eventually. Only one pair of trails though.
Remember my "back to the hills" Tuesday afternoon 5k? Just as well I went out then, as storms and torrential rain started in the Cantal at 11pm and didn't stop until 8am. The two nearest towns got 127mm and 170mm respectively in 12 hours. Fortunately there was no hail and the pitch was well-drained, so the van remained undamaged and we were able to get away safely. I barely slept though!
It felt like being in a washing machine Sandie1961 , it was horrible.
We were parked on the designated part of a sports field at an "aire municipal de services" in a tiny village, so no tents. Two of the four vans were afraid of getting stuck so moved off and parked on the wastewater empyting area just after midnight.
I hope so. I’m not aiming for a world beating time, but it would be nice to beat my 2019 GSR time. Btw Market Rasen had the fastest male parkrunner in the world on 4 September - 14.40 😳 Wedding and race meeting means no parkrun til October, so will have to go to Doddington!
Market Rasen is a fast course (I have had 3 5k PBs there including my current one). Doddington Hall is an out and back along the old railway, free parking and a nice coffee shop. Let me know when you want to do it 😃
Good to know! I have family that way and a young relative champing at the bit 🙂
I’ve been to Doddington several times to visit the garden and cafe, but each time I’ve been, folks on the gate tell me it’s closed. It seems they are the gatekeepers to the hall 🙄. Next time I go I’ll ignore them 😁
I didn’t think I would and it may be short term infidelity, but they are very supportive and very bouncy. Need to try them out properly and see if it is a lasting relationship or just love at first sight/run 😂😂
