Now I don’t really post about shoes but I just had to.
I was previously a devout Saucony omni iso fan but when they adjusted to the omni iso 2 (why do they do that to perfectly good shoe styles?) I was infuriated when my toe started to come through the top of the shoe within 3-4 weeks. Only a month before my marathon.
I sent them back and bought brooks addiction. They were ok but heavy and the laces were too fat to tie however they saw me through my 26.2.
Then I got back on the trails and got to try out my Hoka Speedgoats. I loved them so much I researched Hoka road support shoes and found these - Gaviota 2. Gone back to men’s versions again as I think they’re a better fit. I sent back the brooks due to their 90 day no quibble refund policy.
I tried the Gaviotas last night and OMG! These are the most comfortable running shoes I’ve every worn! I was initially worried about the 5mm drop but after researching, I discovered that a lower drop is good with knee issues. I LOVE THESE SHOES! Boing boing! 🤞🏽 they go the distance.

They're nice! 😊 I've had 6 pairs of hokas ( eek don't want to add the amount spent!)now and the ones that have been best for me are the Bondi model, they've really lasted well! 😊happy running! X
I've also been using Saucs for everything but was thinking about Hokas for Trail. I know a couple of friends that love the Speedgoats too. And many that swear by Hokas.
I've got a pair of Hoka Torrent trail shoes, I'm not 100% about them still but they are good to mix things up and I have to say they're brilliant on sand.
I'm addicted to a 4mm drop, I really think it suits me best, I'm not too sure about my new Brooks Adrenaline road shoes now which are a 10.6 drop...
My sister in law who does 70 miles a week loves her Hoka Speedgoat 3. She buys the men's sizes too.
Hello Tasha. That was a great post. Before I started running ( 2 years ago) and someone had said I would be avidly reading a post titled "Shoe Porn" I would have told them they were mad. Now however...... ...... Also I am becoming strangely attached to my old worn out trainers and resistant to Mrs Johnm12's suggestions that I throw them out.
The Saucony uppers are like paper. my toes go through them almost immediately. I wanted to marathon in them next weekend but they could end up more hole than shoe 🤔.
Not heard of the Gaviota. Will check them out 😀👍🏃♀️
Ummm. What’s “drop”? I know, I’m a bit dim about shoes, and quite a new runner only on my 2nd pair. Knees are ok ish, Achilles iffy, so don’t know what I should look at. Picture looks sexy though 🤣🤣
