Yorkshire Marathon 2020 here I come

I received my code for the complimentary entry this week, followed the instructions and received the confirmation email to say that I was in. Since then I have flitted between being excited and nervous wondering what I have let myself in for. I thoroughly enjoyed the 10 mile race this year despite the fact that I was unwell the day before. I am planning on doing a 20-22 mile walk to see how long it takes me as that will give me an idea of what it will take me if I run/walk it.

You can get online calcs based on your most recent race times, or average pace off your run watch. Jeff Galloway Run/walk type calculators are online too to give you an approx idea of your finish time

I chose one and studied it, decided to follow it for my first marathon, and it was spot on. Having decided to Jeff it, I chose my run to walk ratio and stuck with it on the day. I think it was important to do that! I got home comfortably.

I guess what i’m saying is get a plan early and stick to it! Hence no surprises/shocks on race day 🙂

Good luck with your planning and prep. If you get the training plan printed off, and the training done, then you’ll be ready 💪😃🏃‍♀️👍🏅

Are they free and compatible with android. I have seen Jeff Galloway has a training plan but it's not compatible with android. I wasn't going to start training until after the Brighton half in February (23rd February) which gives me plenty of time allowing for interruptions such as holidays

I really should know this by now but what does “Jeff it” mean? I’d guess it means a Run/walk strategy as per Jeff Galloway?

Yes, that’s the guy. Sorry, I should have been clearer 😃

Haha! I see ppl saying Jeffing from time to time. now I know 😁

His method is universally accepted 😃. His book sets out the run/walk ratios in detail. They are available elsewhere now though so you don’t have to buy the book.

The Jeff plans are great. In terms of timing the intervals, I just downloaded a free app and set the intervals on that. Worked a treat for my HM! I used Gymboss for mine

I have Gymboss app on my phone. I used to do 30/30 but now do 20/30 as I find it more comfortable than 30/30
