‘Ey Up!

Anyone else in for next years Yorkshire Marathon? I missed out in the London ballot; then procrastinated and missed out on Brighton. I was really hoping to get a full mara done in the Spring. None of the other ones quite work. Never mind, October 20th in York will have to do.

Just in case anyone was thinking of running this one, early bird entries close tonight at midnight. Save yerselves a few bob, ‘appen. (Alright, I’ll stop with the irritating fake Yorkshire vernacular before someone from the white rose county comes and lamps me) 🙂

Happy running everyone.

I’ve just done this as my first 👍🏽 Can’t be 20th as was 20th this year?

I’m debating whether to do Manchester in April.

It’s rather more hilly than it suggests - not massively, but certainly not flat as it states in the info page 🤣

Enjoy! I may be there but I doubt it as I hate summer training.

You’re quite right, it’s the 18th. I’d just hastily checked google as I was posting which gave me this years date.

Manchester doesn’t quite fall right with the Easter hols and gives me less travel/accommodation options, looks good though. Go for it!

Did you enjoy York apart from the hills?! I’ll stop being lazy and check your run report. 🙂

The hills aren’t horrific - more gentle inclines but we walked them as didn’t want to exhaust ourselves! I was having a really bad run day and so struggled for the first half. Once I’d got more behind me than ahead, I was ok. Legs kept seizing up towards the end! So that’s why want another, better attempt. The support en route was great and some pretty scenery and villages. The only think that annoyed me was that they’d run out of gels at the two fuel stations so I’d have taken more if I’d have known. The volunteers were amazing 😍

Lots from my club do it so I might get sucked into doing it yet. It’s fairly local to us.

Sorry I’d missed your post, I haven’t been here so much lately. Congratulations on your first, it’s a bit of a daunting prospect!

Sadly not, but I’ve got family in the North East. Fingers crossed I can get one of them to give me a lift down to York! 😊I thought there’d be an earlier train but with it being Sunday, probably not...

I don't think anywhere in Yorkshire is as flat as they say it is...I think the problem is it's all so damn hilly so when they look at a little one they say...call that a hill?, that's not a hill!, (looking at virtual mountian) now this is a hill! 😳😅

I can say categorically I won't be there, I'll be saving 'all me bob'! But good luck to you - it'll be a nice place to stay at least (daughter was at Uni in York and I worked there a long time ago!) 😍

No plans to run it myself 😱😱😱 but just wanted to wish you all the best! Anyone who takes on a full marathon has my total respect! Plenty of time to train up for this one as well - good luck!🙂

Thanks Sandra! I’ve done a couple of halves and got up to 36km in training, but I’m still very much a novice.
