I've just signed up for the Brighton Marathon!! I didn't get into London and I've missed having a goal since I finished my training for Bournemouth marathon so.... ππ€ͺπ€£πββοΈ I'm not naive this time and know what to expect from the actual distance. I have never been to Brighton before but I don't believe anywhere is flat lol. I will beat my time now though. I definitely want 5 hours but ideally 4 and a half. π€
Excited!: I've just signed up for the... - Fun Beyond 10K & ...
Excited!
Congratulations to you running the London Vitality BigHalf my first big distance run in March 2020. Good luck
Oh wow! Good luck! When is it? Iβm considering Manchester in April but not sure I can cope with it. My legs are in bits - canβt even walk properly! I was disappointed with my time too βΉοΈ 5:25. My legs didnβt work.
Sorry I seemed to have turned this post to about me π Iβm exhausted π€£
You were quicker than me! I ran too high in my heartrate zones and too fast I think and then from that slowed down after mile 21. Basically the opposite of my plan π€£π€£ Brighton is in April and I have the London Landmarks half in March so I have targets and goals to aim for now. I was a bit low after my marathon, just in acheiving it I think. But now I have a time to beat, an understanding of how I need to train and it gives me some reason for getting up on cold dark mornings lol.
I would totally recommend my heartrate training for stamina and endurance and not getting injured but for pace it needs tweaking. I want a faster time! You should look into Manchester.... but give yourself a few days to rest lol. You did just run a marathon!! Xx
Thanks! Iβm so tired! Donβt think Iβd ever get below 5 hours though tbh. I feel a bit down now - did you? Must be tiredness I guess.
Yep. I hit a dip where I just felt low and as though I'd done it, I'd ran the big one so what now. I think it is that we spent so long thinking about and planning for the day that you kind of have to have a bit of a come down afterwards. I was so nervous too so all that heightened energy builds and adds to the tiredness. You were buzzing yesterday.... don't lose that sense of pride. It took me a few days to get that feeling as I was genuinely peeved with my time lol. But I went out for a few runs with no pace pressures and after my 3rd run my running mojo came back. But it wasn't until I signed up today for Brighton that my motivation got back on track. I'm eager to train now so I don't lose the fitness I gained. I'm going to purposely follow a plan that aims for 5 hours and then see how I go. Give it 2 weeks.... you will be signing up for another one! π€ͺ xx
Yay!!!
The second half of the Brighton Marathon is more or less completely flat, and the crowd support is amazing πππ
And so it begins... π Weβre all bananas you realize? Go get it Claire!
One word - kudos! Having run the GSR last weekend and a HM distance run once, I have soooo much respect for you marathon runners. Amazing. π
Great stuff Claire. As I hobbled towards the finishing line in Oxford, I thought never again! By the end of the next day I was already looking at training for Blenheim half. We are all addicts! You will smash it! Xx
We are! I just didn't want to lose my love of running and now I have a bit of a buzx again. I might switch my max heartrate up a bit after I do a running max out test. I need to get faster. But maybe if I had stayed in zone 3 I would have had more energ
Itβs a balancing act. Hr zone training got me round Oxford half, but Iβve traded pace for stamina. Others have also said long distance training has slowed them down. Finding your max hr is a very good idea. Xx
