I’m going for lots of carbs tomorrow before Sunday’s half. But I’m concentrating more on what I will consume during the race. I got round 10.5 miles in the summer on a bottle of tailwind and a nak’d bar and didn’t feel tired (except my legs!) so I’m taking Tailwind again and TWO nak’d bars to be in the safe side
A strong espresso 👍
I eat a bowl of porridge two hours before. An espresso immediately before running if there’s one handy 😃
The boost of energy is more necessary in the later stages so sipping Tailwind drink or an energy bar is a good idea. Few Haribo’s in your pocket keep your mouth moist if you’ve no water
If you eat well all week and stay well hydrated you’ll be fine
Don't have anything you wouldn't normally have as you don't want to risk it not agreeing with you 👍🏻😉
What ever you normally do..I didn't do anything any different ..if you have a healthy eating regime and great hydration all the time..you should be fine..I just had sips of water from a couple of the stations and one sip from my own bottle..
I have a banana and a cereal bar about an hour or so before I run. The day before my metric I ate chicken and pasta, plenty of water too. I was fine for the whole 16.3 miles
I ate some honey on toast and then scarfed down a chocolate almond Magma icecream bar. I do believe the icecream kept me hydrated all way around.
SIS double espresso gel 🤣 They work!
On my two (albeit shorter distance races) dried apricots have been on offer and I've found them quite refreshing. Not sure if they helped or not but they did help my dry mouth
Good points above to not try anything new on race day. Make sure you hydrate well in the days before, and nothing too spicy or hard to digest the day before the race. So whatever you normally have and like to eat that fits this.
Personally I have breakfast about 2.5hrs before the race and 1/2 a plain bagel 30mins before the start but I have tested this works for me in training.
At this stage it is probably best to continue what you have been doing in training I would think. Good luck!
