Regular viewers will recognise this one. I’ve used this circuit a few times now. Today I reversed the route and took the shortest loop which is a bit short of 5 miles.
Instead of running down to the sea it’s out of the door and up a short ravine over the hill. Last months storms have caused the wild rosemary to bloom again. A few bees about but not like spring. There’s no decent path here so it’s all a bit haphazard. One advantage is that I did a decent warm up which I seldom worry about these days. That’s the first photo.
My intention was to run at about threshold for a better training effect but I found my legs are a bit tired and it was an effort to keep my HR up. Over the top I joined the main road and turned right. Bit further and right again uphill into a valley. From there (2nd photo) it’s a long downhill to a little village. Normally I run up this one. I had to really stretch out to keep my heart pumping down the hill.
From the village it’s off road again down a river bed to the sea. Along the coast for a mile and back uphill to home.
Overall it was much slower than I intended. In May, before I went back on the IC I was up to 30+ miles a week. When I get back I shall try to get back to that.
Pleasant run though.
