Following my first HM last Sunday, I ran a 10k today in support of my local school, There weren't many in the 10k - about 30. And it was a hilly route. So with still tired legs, I knew I'd be last, as I was running on empty.
Consequently, it was great to have the marshals cheer me round, and about 30 people cheering me in at the finish line. And the route turned out over 10k, at 10.11k. My average speed was 6.59/km, and it's my second fastest time.
The mental challenge was brutal! I was glad to see the finish line! Being last isn't so bad.
