Finally managed to break past 30k this morn, only barely, and in two sessions, a hilly trail 9.38k and then a road session of 21.1. I think I would have lasted a bit longer without all the hills at the start, although that was the most fun part of the morning :). My plan only called for 27, but a friend motivated me to maybe shoot for a bit more and I am happy I did. Next week the plan actually calls for 30, so I will try it on flatter roads or trails this time around in a single session. Who knew any of this was remotely possible a year ago? Happy trails everyone.
A little longer this morn: Finally... - Fun Beyond 10K & ...
A little longer this morn
Man you've come a long way in the last year 🙌🙌🙌I'm in awe of the distances you run. That trail looks AWESOME 😻
Thanks Sask. 🙂This was really hard though, as I am used to 20 for long runs. By the end I had burned through all my reserve water and gels and everything felt rusty. But it was still good and the trails were really fun even though we took alot of hills along the way. Very slow going tho. My pace is showing too quick on the trails because my watch was set for roads and stoplights 🙄🙂
Congratulations on getting to 30k and with some hills as well! Seems your training's going well. What's the longest run on your training plan?
Thank you, I got to 30 only for the ATB training and race, but this was going just beyond that because I knew I had to do it soon. I still feel unprepared for 42 but am trying to trust the plan :). The longest distance is 34k in 5 weeks time, 3 weeks out from the race
Fantastic! I think the toughest part of that was splitting it up, it's much harder to get going again after a break. 💪🏻👍🏻😁
Thanks Jo. Yeah, actually the really hard part was the last solo 5 on the way home. I always slow down and get into my head on my own, so had to force myself to just go all the way back. Almost stopped many times. Still not close to 42 but getting there
It does seem to get harder somewhere around 30k; possibly because, by that distance, you're relying totally on what you've managed to eat during the run. Still, adding extra hills at the start is obviously a significant factor (I can see the appeal though).
Great run and you seem to be in a very good position for your marathon.
Oh my.... WOW! You certainly have come a long, long way my friend!
Wow, that’s an amazing run and brilliant distance. Looks beautiful from the photo too
Great stuff! A bag of Hula hoops is a lifesaver at about 32 kms. Try it 😁👍😃💪😋😋😋🏃♂️
It’s a lovely glowy feeling when a long run is nailed. Well done
Thanks Misswobble. 🙂 I don’t know what those are but I will be looking for them now!
Yeah it was a good feeling, though I think I am the only one in my house that cares. At least my runner friends get it
If I've got this right, chips are fries and crisps are potato chips, OK, for Hula Hoops, think potato chips, each one shaped a bit like a wedding ring. If your fingers are small enough, you can slide a few onto your finger then eat them like that (although that's probably not a good technique to use in the middle of a marathon).
That’s a fantastic distance! Well done!
Amazing as ever, Decker! 👏👏👏😀 Well done on pushing on to break 30k PLUS those hills! I am, as always, slightly in awe!!😮😀
Amazing running, your distances are inspirational. Looks beautiful, but definitely challenging!
Well done on your 30k. You’re doing amazing with your running! Looks like a beautiful trail.
