I ran today instead of tomorrow as tomorrow looks warmer! βοΈWasn't sure whether to do 14k or push on for the full 16.1( or whatever 10 miles is in km!) My Garmin says it was 22 degrees, so I took it nice and steady (i.e. "slow"!) A mixture of road and trail and all felt pretty good, although my left knee felt a little niggly over the last few k (IT band still playing up from time to time I think). Back home and glad that my distance is now back up where it needs to be for the Great South Run in October, when thankfully it should be quite a bit cooler!
Looking forward to a nice short run now on Tuesday!πππ½ββοΈ

I am also trying to maintain that distance for GSR and also the new forest half. My planned 10 miles on thursday was 8.5 in the end as I had two massive horse fly bites on my calfs which were bruised and swollen. My calfs just were not feeling it for the full 10 miles. So tomorrow I will try again to get 10-12 miles in before I go away for 2 weeks.
Good luck with your run on Tuesday RFD - I know you have run much further! I would like to do another HM and am toying with the idea of a late autumn/winter one rather than dropping my distance after GSR and building up again for a spring one as I had planned. ππ
Well done Sandraj39! Iβm glad to see you back where you belong at 10 miles. Iβve noticed you havenβt got your 10 mile badge alongside your name. You must claim your HU bling and proudly show your achievement.
I hope that knee behaves itself for you. I had a bit of a knee niggle just at the end of my run this week too. Where does the IT band affect you?
Iβm hoping weβll be able to meet up with you before the GSR this year, along with Sandie1961 , and cheekychipmunks .
Hi Dexy - it affects the outside of my left knee. Lots of stretching of quads, hamstrings and rolling helps. My 10 mile badge was replaced by my Half marathon badge (they can only display one)π
I can see the badge now, it didnβt show before. I did read that badges were disappearing! Magic.
Yes the outside of the right knee was my niggle so I need to look into that, I know my hamstrings are tight compared to others at Pilates . When I had an MRI scan (pre-running) it showed a spur in the cartilage and early arthritis but Iβm glad to say the running has really improved my knees.
I do think that running is generally good for our knees! I am doing lclams, bridges etc too to strengthen hips and glutes and this does seem to be helping!
