Easy run

40 min ‘easy’ run on my plan this morning. Does anyone else find it hard to go really slow? I ended up including a 1.5 mile uphill section to try to run at the recommended pace and I still ended up too fast. I do enjoy slow runs for looking around me and really taking in the views though. Happy running everyone x

A lot of people do find this hard, and I suggest you run at a pace that feels easy and comfortable for YOU! It may be a bit slower going uphill or against wind, or a bit faster going downhill, but it will be your easy pace. If you want to, you can calibrate your easy runs to the average pace your watch recorded over your past few 'easy' runs - this will give you a scientifically determined, personalised 'easy' pace.

Enjoy your running 😊😊😊

What a great idea! I think that would feel more comfortable too as I don’t feel I am running naturally when it’s so slow. Thanks for the tip!

Yes I do! And because I’m doing heart rate training, the watch buzzes like an angry hornet if my rate goes too high, so I have to go even slower ☹️

Fortunately I don’t know how to set heart rate on my Garmin so that is probably a blessing in disguise 😂. I would love to do heart rate trading for a marathon plan someday though.

I’m doing the Polar half marathon training. The days plan is sent to the watch and all I have to do is catch a satellite and go

Yes I find it hard. I’m recovering from a hamstring injury so the physio is making me slow down and increase my cadence, which feels strange! Finding the right music seems to help a bit.

Lol, maybe I need to listen to classical stuff more! Most of my music is up tempo 180 cadence stuff which probably isn’t conducive to running slowly! Hope the injury mends quickly. I hate being on the IC (had hip bursitis last year) but it does make you appreciate your running so much more when you do get back to it 🙂

I do, I tend to put on a podcast if I need to keep my heart rate down for a run. I always run slower to dialogue.

You ask if anyone finds it hard to run slow?, I got a metronome app to pace my running recently, the very first run using it I set the 'beats/steps per minute at 150, o my goodness me, at that pace I "ran" a 5K in 52 minutes, it was so tiring doing it so slowly, a few days before I had walked that same route not using the app in 48 minutes, the next time I set the app at 65 and ran it in 38 minutes, however, I find NOT using the app quicker to run as my PB on that route is 32.23.

I find it pleasant to run at my pace...which is slow, if compared to many..but I don't compare...I run at what I call my happy pace... the ...'I could run for ever' pace, which is between 7.15 and 7.30 per K... :) I use hills to slow me down at the beginning of longer runs... :)

Only when I try to go at a prescribed easy pace. If I just run what I feel is and easy pace then, no.

Struggling to at the moment. In fact, I was reporting (whinging) about my last run feeling hard, and beachcomber pointed out that maybe I could have slowed down just a little? Um, yes maybe 😳
