Firstly anyone run a marathon this weekend I hope it goes well.
I am new to the group, I joined because I have signed myself up to complete the London Landmark half marathon on 29th March 2020. I am not a particularly good runner or a regular runner. I run 5 km in around 32 minutes so this is a challenge but I think achievable. I start the 8 week 10km plan on Monday and once I have achieved that goal I will move onto a half marathon plan. This feels like an ok training plan to me however I am open to alternatives, tips, advice, suggestions and well anything really!

Sounds great. I will be entering the ballot for LLHM having run it last year - it was a great race with loads of entertainment and support en route and a fab atmosphere. It was my first half too! Ju ju's plan is a brilliant way to get to 10k and you should have some time to consolidate that distance before moving on to a HM plan. Exciting times! Lots of advice in the posts on this forum - have a read and enjoy.
I'm planning on entering the ballot too (and OH). Just reread your report from this year 💪and wondered where you drove up from/parked on the day?
I can get up to London on the train in 35mins if I drive into Guildford (20 min car journey), which is what we did for the Vitality London 10000.
My other choice would be the Surrey Half in March which is well supported and more local but wouldn't have quite the same feel and support that a big London one has. ....nice to be thinking of another half😮. Will wait andd see what the ballot brings...x
I drove in from Bucks and parked at the Park Lane Hilton. If you book it through JustPark you can get a really good price. You get to use the hotel loos which are fab!!! A few others on here did it last year too and everyone said it was great. Good luck with the ballot 🤞
Welcome, this sounds like a great plan. I plan to enter the ballot as well. I have followed a similar path. Completed C25K consolidated, then followed ju-ju’s magic 10k consolidated that distance and now following a HM training plan. You have loads of time to get ready for March 2020. The real key is to avoid injury so don’t over do it.
Well done. I not you say you are not a good runner - why is this? Your times seem quite average for a 5k. Yes, there are those who may be faster, but who cares, there are many that will be slower too. The old saying goes, a mile is a mile no matter how fast you run it.
My only (slight) concern would be that you say you are not a regular runner. Consistency is key. If you can run three times a week, even if its a couple of short runs and a long one, then do it. The more you do something the better at it you get, and running is no exception.
Thank you. You are right it would have been better to celebrate what I can do which is run 5km in around 32 minutes. I am currently not running regularly but I will follow the plan and will run 3 times a week It’s an achievable goal.
I start tomorrow as that suits my working week better.
