Injury update

Called into my local running store for some advice while I wait for my doctor appointment. I self diagnosed an ITB problem but the very friendly store guy thought it could be a ruptured tendon. I haven't run for nearly 2 Weeks and can't see me lacing up my running shoes for some considerable length of time. Looks like all the hard work over the last 12 months is going straight down the pan...,... As you might guess I'm feeling pretty sorry for myself.

Please don't take medical advice from anyone other than a medical professional, Pete!

Wait to see the doctor. By all means tell the doctor that you have concerns about tendon rupture, but make sure you tell them exactly the symptoms you have been experiencing.

Don't give up hope!!! xxx

I agree about self diagnosis and listening to others BUT I'm just desperately hoping it isn't as serious as I think it is. Thanks for the response and I'm keeping everything crossed it will be fixed sooner rather than later.

Everything crossed for you here too!!

See what the doctor says! Also may be worth getting a sports physio on board to get the best recovery possible.

Thanks. I did consider a short run this morning but I decided against it which was a good job because I've been for a walk and it's started to feel sore.

The fitness you’ve built up over the last year won’t disappear completely and you’ll get back into it really quickly. Hope things aren’t as bad as you fear!

I'm not feeling great at the minute. Running was my release from the all the day to day bulls##t. (Apologies for swearing). I went for a long walk yesterday, 20,000 steps and my knee was killing me. Getting back to running seems a long way away.

Walking is a substitute - but nowhere near as satisfying. And maybe not 20,000 steps in one go if something’s not right. Can you do any exercise in the gymn to distract you until things are sorted?

I've been advised to rest as much as possible so I agree the walk was pretty silly. I just have this overwhelming urge to do something. I'm terrified all the weight I've lost is going to pile back on. Only a couple of weeks to wait until my doctor appointment so hopefully all will be revealed then. Hopefully it'll be a quick fix
