Oof, I had been feeling guilty about not getting enough running in this week but we did a giant box/furniture move yesterday and my quads are really aching this morning! So I've decided not to think of it as missed running due to moving, but a week or two of weighted staircase intervals. It's lovely to get a new home and all, but I'm beginning to think the pictured American way is better...just move the house too!
I hope your running training is a little more conventional, and feeling good! Sorry I'm being a bit quiet on here, but I'm still reading all your exploits and loving the distraction so keep 'em coming π
Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week. Please join in the discussion π
If you're new or a lurker this is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.
Happy running, awesome people!

My quads are aching too... maybe it's just sympathy pains! π€£π€£π€£
After my exploits Sat I should have rested but went out again Sunday after work for a recovery/test run but it was too quick. Paying now with sore bits and tired head. Nothing a couple of early nights shouldn't sort out though ππ
Just had an espresso and heading out for a 5k jog. Hopefully it wonβt be as cold as the last few runs Iβve had.
Yesterday was bone-chillin out on the trail. We sat and had a picnic π§Ί The chatter of teeth was ridic. Our lips juddered as we chowed down on cold sarnis π₯Ά. The place was rammed with like-minded, hardy folk mind you π
Training going well, some runs too slow against plan but neβer mind, Iβm doing my best π
Have a good week peeps πͺπππββοΈπββοΈ
Love that pic!!! Well done for all the strength work, Squeak, and good luck for the rest of the move ππ
I did swims, strength, and even a run last week! Went swimming in Oxford a couple of times, which was nice. More of the same stuff this week, but without the M25 queues π
I went out yesterday to cheer on the Brighton Marathoners for a bit. There was SUCH a nasty breeze - a headwind for all of the last 10k along the prom, and chilly too π£π¬ I didn't feel quite so envious, although I'm still going to be logging on at 10 am tomorrow to try and get an early bird ticket for next year!
I've managed to injure my left leg again! Usual story - run faster, leg complains βΉοΈ
Shouldn't have run on Friday but I wanted to be able to take my son on the club run. He's taken nearly 2 and a half minutes off his parkrun PB in the last couple of weeks and I really think a large part of it is down to the confidence boost he's had from these runs - Hastings Runners are fab π
Track relays tonight but I've decided to do the sensible thing and give it a miss. Looking forward to cheering from the sidelines.
It's Hastings parkruns 4th birthday on Saturday and I'm down to pace 35mins. Fingers crossed leg will be OK and the bunny ears I'll be wearing will stay on π€£
Busy, busy busy! House moving ..Eeekekkeke... I moved boxes in my sleep.
Enjoying relaxed running since the HM.. three times a week and finding my runs feel lighter and sprightlier... I think the Sand dune park run was such hard going.. I think my feet feel like they are floating now
I am intending building distance up steadily now... but slow and steady as ever
I'm at a bit of a running crossroads right now; both HMs done, a 5 mile local trail race to do Easter Monday and then freedom! So will just keep it ticking over this week. I'm volunteering at Parkrun on Saturday too (for the first time since New Year's Day I think) which I'm looking forward to. Oh, and this Wednesday it will be two years since I started C25K. What a great two years it's been π
Hopefully we'll all get to enjoy some kinder temperatures for our runs this week
So apart from the wind, what did you think of the coast HM Linda? Did the water stops work out ok? Congrats on completing it, and your upcoming 2nd anniversary! π
I was literally just posting a race report I 'enjoyed' it, and would probably do it again, although I would be praying for a tailwind. I had my small water bottle which I definitely needed as two stops wasn't enough for me. There were really friendly marshalls and a little bit of public support, but not much, and no music apart from the start and finish lines. That made it very different from the London Landmarks one, but was actually nice in it's own way. I would say do it if you can.
Well done Linda - not sure I βenjoyβ HMs per se either but I certainly enjoy it when itβs over!!! π. Glad it worked out ok - I dislike carrying water in a race myself and have not had to thus far, so well done on your water strategy. If I am over that way I will consider it - as long as a tailwind can be arranged or they run it in reverse!! π
The past week was the last before taper, I needed to get miles in and test my fitness, but I also had a travel to North Carolina (2 flight with a long layover in London and one of the flight 8 hours long) si I was a bit worried...
I managed to run enough (~30miles) in North Carolina, took Friday off because of travelling and then did a βsurpriseβ 10 Km race on Saturday...quick race report coming soon but I donβt have official results...
a friend of mine invited me. I went for fun and found myself running s 41β 10 k without too much effort (148 beat per minute max, 120 or less on average...) which made me think my fitness level must have improved....( considering my current pb at 40β16ββ was fine suffering a lot)
On Sunday I went for my last long run... did 24 miles !!! I felt I could run strong the whole time and I managed 2 miles at 7β30 average between mile 21 and 23. Total miles for the week :60 , and An incredible 280 miles in the past 30 days!!!
Now taper!!! This week itβs still high mileage with about 50. Iβm a bit tired and sore, but managed 5 miles yesterday and will try 5-7 today. Have a great week
No new injuries for me this week, maybe because my only run was Parkrun on Saturday. However the arm injury from falling over last week was agony after a 30 mile bike road so I finally took myself to A&E. X-rayed and nothing broken as suspected, all the lumps are hematomas, bruising is all the colours of the rainbow and it's infected. So on penicillin for a week.
Missed last night's club run, maybe try to go on Thursday instead if the pain has subsided.
Had a difficult week last week (work) and as a consequence my running did not go to plan. Missed first run, second run - supposed to be 10k ended up being 4k - and my long run - planned for a treadmill as we were staying away at the weekend - my ineptitude on setting up the treadmill properly meant I ended up only doing 5k in the time I had.
It was supposed to be a reset week anyway so not the worst week to fall short on. A couple of big weeks coming up now though so I need to be back on my game (not too many easter eggs) in my HM training.
Having run 6 days consecutively last week I gave myself a running break yesterday. It was good to find out that I am strong enough to run on consecutive days if I want - and I loved it because it was all running tourism. Pure indulgence, pure pleasure and no harm done!
Back home now and out on my usual 5k this morning.
Thatβs a great pic Sqkr. If only it were that easy eh? π This last Saturday was an orientation run for the upcoming 25k trail. It was quite challenging, but still a good time. Totally messed up my Garmin recording of it too, getting only 16 of the 20k loop recorded, because it kept auto-pausing on the steeper hills! Ah well. At least I know what Iβm in for now. Went for a recovery 7k run on Sunday which felt good and then a broken 10k this morning, which was a good mental floss run. Iβve been trying to find nearby trails to run on, but should probably find some hills to train on instead. Happy running everyone!
I'd been getting a regular HM done on Tuesdays in an indoor arena over the late winter but now the snow and ice have gone and I'm running outside I seem to have lost my long distance mojo. I think I had it in my head to run some faster short runs to work on my pace, but I seem to have just taken that as an excuse to "run round the block" a few times instead of heading off on longer "proper" jaunts. Must try to get a long run in this week! I have the Helsinki Half Marathon coming up on May 18th so I need to get my act together! Grrr...
