Is it normal to flit between feeling you can do it and what am I thinking?

I am doing the Brighton Marathon and am doing the above. Also is it possible for your legs to forget 18miles? I haven't done any further and concerned that my feet will not be able to do it again. I am doing my 2nd half of the year this weekend so I'll only be doing 4.9 less than 18.

You'll be just fine...as soon as it all begins..your legs will take over.

They know what they are doing..relax and let them. Steady and slow 😉

Overthinking is impossible to avoid I suspect. But if I'm getting anxious about ambitious running plans I like to think of myself as a powerful dog (though I suspect excitable puppy is closer). Those guys don't worry about things, they just run! (I've posted about Ludovine before, but here she is again for a bit of inspo google.com/amp/s/barkpost.c... ) Your feet will be fine, they'll remember everything they need to on the day.

Don't look too far ahead - just concentrate on what you intend to do over the next 2 weeks! Training for the marathon is a very long, exhausting and sometimes frustrating affair - my biggest frustration is the heat here. Autumn has arrived - in the very early morning there is a definite "coolness" (21C) but it doesn't last long and they are predicting 34C by noon today. It is REALLY hard to get in the planned longruns :(

I trained in the heat here in the UK obviously not the same as say Australia or anywhere else but it helped me when I did my first half marathon in Swansea last June when it was really hot 🔥. A lot of people younger and possibly fitter than me and slimmer didn't finish. Nine months on I am 2.5 stone lighter and about to do my fourth half marathon and my second of this year (2 left to go: Swansea Half again in June and Cardiff Half again in October). Obviously the marathon is in the middle of my half this Sunday and Swansea Half in June.
