A busy Sunday ahead! A quick check of my phone says that the weather is going to be...oo blimey. Sleet! Hopefully that's just here in the badlands of Edinburgh... Well, you know what cold weather means: fill your post-race thermos and go 10% faster to ward off the icy chill!

Inverness half marathon has just sent out a cold weather warning for Sundayβs run. Cold with wintry showers π₯Άπ¨. Also an essential kit list which includes waterproof trousers and wool socks π΅, although the wool socks should only be worn if they have been used in training and the runner is used to running in wet wool socks π±π€£. Should I take my wellies π€
π€£ Iβm sure Iβll laugh about it on Monday with my fellow work colleagues who will be running the Inverness half marathon with meπ€π
I think the slower runners like me will need to have extra stamina on Sunday as we will be out in the cold for longer than the speedy runners ππΌββοΈ
Good luck to everyone running at the weekend. I hope the weather will be kind to you π
Wow - I'm impressed you knew the Kent "Invicta" thingy!
Here in the sunny south, the current Kent weather forecast for Sunday is "Sunny intervals and a fresh breeze, 7 degC feels like 4 degC". That's definitely long sleeves weather but a bit borderline on shorts versus 3/4 lengths. I may be brave and leave my gloves at home, but then again I do get grumpy if I have cold hands...
I'm looking forward to this as:
a) It's my first event since 30 September
b) I will be meeting up with 2 ex-work colleagues/friends, one of which I did my HM with last year. We had ice cream after that but I expect it might be hot coffee for this one.
c) It's raising money for a good cause
d) I don't have to go cycling on Sunday on my razor blade road bike saddle
Thanks for all the good wishes everyone and the same out to my fellow event runners this weekend.
Although my Espoo DIY Marathon weekly event is a "marathon", there are a hardcore who run 42k every week and a few of us still consolidating on just the HM. Plan to extend my Tuesday runs towards 30k soon.
