I decided to put in a fast 21.1k today so decided against going farther. I was pooped by the end of the HM but a great surprise to get so close to my target of breaking the 2hr barrier with 02:00:14. I actually watched the Kipchoge Youtube docu last night (b210k forum Chris Allen's recommendation "Breaking2") about breaking 2 hrs for the marathon so it must have inspired me! Kipchoge is NOT twice as fast as me anymore!
I think the peer pressure of the marathon group will get me up to marathon distance soon (the arena cafe is right next to the track so had a 30 mins of guilty nods and a couple of coffees watching all the 42k-ers lapping) π
I must have pushed it quite a lot today because my Garmin is telling me I need 60 hrs recovery and says the run was a TE=5 ( training effect ), Yikes! I can certainly say my usual joggy HM runs don't give me stiff legs the next day - but this run is going to I am sure! Compression socks on! Not sure if they work but it kindda makes you feel like you are taking some preventative measures!
