I have completed the c25k and a 10k and now training for the London Big Half Marathon. I’m looking for swim advise if I should train up to 12 or run the full half before the day?? Many thanks

Half marathon
Hello - welcome to the forum!!!
Either is fine. Some people like to save their first half marathon for the event, others want to feel confident that they can run the full distance before the event. It's up to you!
I guess another factor will be how much time you have to train before the event. If you have limited time then 10/11/12 miles would be enough. Howevre, if it is a while away then you could get the full distance without overtraining.
It's entirely up to you! I liked knowing I could do the distance in advance so I was doing 25k as my long run in the lead up to my first half, and will do that amount again this coming year in training, but you don't have to. I think it depends how you are approaching your race, a lot of people are happy to simply get round as a bucket list type event, others want to give it a really good go with a view to it becoming their regular event distance. If you think you're the former, there's no reason to complete the full distance beforehand. If you're in the second category, there's no reason not to!
I ran up to 18k before the big day 😃👍🏃♀️
I’m in training for my first half in March. I’m currently up to 10 miles. People keep telling me I don’t need to go any further but as there’s still 8 weeks to go, I will keep going as training is going well. I’ve got two 10k races before then (Longleat and Two Tunnels) and also one loop of the Half course (Bath - it’s a two-loop course).
Good luck with whatever you decide. Do what feels right for you.
