Of course, I had previously been running for 3+ years including 3 half marathons - but found myself in a position after injury ( fractured 5th metatarsal) that I really needed to start my journey to the marathon from the Couch. The marathon itself isn't until early July next year - and we have 5 months of summer between now and then - but I have programmed a 10K race (now done), a 15K (next week) and a HM into the overall plan as a guide to my "fitness" along the way. The HM isn't until March next year. I got some new shoes today New Balance 880 which I am hoping will take me through the post HM training runs and the marathon itself.

Well done, Bazza! Good luck for the 15K 😊😊😊 Those shoes look nice and cushy 💗

Well done. A well thought out plan there. I get really good mileage from my NB 1080s, so hopefully you’ll find the 880s are pretty good too 🙂.

Good stuff..... keep us posted and dont forget some downtime to recouperate...
I originally posted a Couch to Marathon programme that I got off the net - but later modified it to basically incorporate Jeff Galloways 10K,HM and full M programmes and stretched them out over 52 weeks. I have a 10K, 15K and HM event programmed into the over all programme. Galloways training programmes are basically all about the fortnightly longruns - so there is essentially an "easy" week with lesser mileage every second week. I am doing the 15K event next week - this one gc50runfestival.com.au/ - watch the vid on the front page.
