(And for anyone that wasn't a girl with crimped hair and a feather cut in the 80's, that's The Bangles up there. Not much to do with running, but plenty of Monday relevance!)

How are things going out there in your running world?

Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week. Please join in the discussion :)

If you're new or a lurker this is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.

Have a great week, and enjoy your runs :)

Sunday was the end of my marathon recovery week, so will be venturing out into the suddenly wet windy and cold autumunal greyness in the next few days to assess the damage. Have only done a 6km walk, a couple of painful 100m staggerettes a couple of days after the marathon to see if I'd become permanently disabled or not and a few lunges so far. Just had my finger hovering over the "pay" button for a local HM Oct 13th but noticed there's no early payment discount any longer - so I'll decide closer to the date. So at least there's no mental scars from the marathon ordeal, but of course wanting to run again could also be a symptom of terminal stupidity or brain damage. πŸ˜›

Do iiiiiiiit do iiiiiiiiit πŸ˜„ I'm none too bad after my half, but can't begin to imagine how much worse I'd feel after double the length 😩 I'd need to work from the sofa for a fortnight I think!

Oooh I loved 't Bangles! I had a feather cut! It was fab! I think posh types called it a coup d savage or summink exotic

Good to hear you're back out again testing out those feet and legs Lordi. They won't fall off if you go for a little jog to shake em out. Just round the block kinda distance. It makes you feel better actually. Give em a gentle spin see how it goes. I've done one marathon and am training for another so it's not unusual. I rather think it's inevitable

Good week of training for me this week. Just ticking off each run as they crop up. Not really thinking about them and hoping they go ok. They don't always but Ive managed them so far, and no bits of me have fall off. Hope that's not temping fate!

Have a good week y'all!

I think I might get a haircut this weekend, I wonder what they'd do if I asked for a coup de savage! Presumably look at me like I'm crazy πŸ€ͺ

Back from hols (managed three runs while away) and planning on getting out there again this afternoon.

Then this week will all be about the build-up to my second ever race, the Emmer Green 10k next Sunday, which I signed up for on a whim yesterday. Just a small one (they had 300 runners last year) but it's so local to me, I will probably walk to the start :)

One of my golf buddies (who does the Reading HM each year) has also signed up for it, so will be a bit daunting running alongside him!

I was nether a girl or had crimped hair with a feather cut in the 80's, I feel I have missed out on so much!

Missed out on parkrun this Saturday due to work, then got to do 15km run early Sunday morning which is good trying to build up milage again. Then straight after had to jnr parkrun with my son which he completed for the first time. (although only 3.5 it wasn't an official finish)

This week hasnt started well, sore throat, ache, tired just going up the stairs. Might have to rest a bit.

Playing about with 42k per week for 3 weeks followed by 22k and a 10K readiness test.

Trying to regain 8 mins/ km shortfall since 4 weeks of hedge cutting so I can re enter the speed challenge somewhere near where I finished on the previous one.

Atb to all those training for all events. Not for me at present.

Would need to be small and very local for me.

Had a bit of a blip with the GNR where I decided I might hate running (me? Overreact? Never!) but yesterday I forced myself out for my last long run before the next HM, and although it was tough because it was windy and up a hill and I'm still not feeling 100%, thankfully I enjoyed it. It was only 16.5k or so, but did include a bit more elevation than the run to come so I think it will suffice as my long run. I like to divide runs into parkruns; 16.5k takes less than one parkrun to become a half marathon so that's fine I think. It's also my very favourite local routeβ€”although it does have the mother of all hills to get up at the startβ€”you can see for miles and the trees are growing so autumnal 😊

That’s interesting Sqkr.

You are such a talent.🌟

I have only done one HM alone in the Park. 21.1/8=2.6km + 250mπŸ€”

At my pace over 3.5hours I only built up to 15k.

I do not have to do more because I am putting in the hours.

Funny Sqkr I feel I could just go and run an HM after 4 weeks of build up. 8k, 10K, 12k and 15k and I am as ready as I am ever going to be.

But your pace is terrific and you have much more to protect.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

You take good care of you and I am pleased the GNR experience did not have a lasting effect .

Not at all a good experience and certainly not of your making.

The problem is for others to address.

Your star shines brightly and what a contribution you make and will make to this magical motivational forum.

Go Sqkr woman of steel.πŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘‘πŸ’₯πŸ”₯

BTW I was impressed, mathematician,I know where to come to get any Laplace Transforms solved.πŸ‘πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸ‘

I travelled on Sunday to North Carolina, just in time to get the tale of the hurricane and flooding... but I am in a safe area! I went for a small run tonight and then looked at the news and realized that on Sunday in Berlin history was made! I am here worrying about running 90 minutes or so in a half marathon, while in Berlin this Sunday Kipchoge just ran 2:01:41 for the full marathon!!! that is 2'53'' per km for more than 41 time ( I cannot run a couple of hundred meters with him... ). he ran 2 half marathons in 61''' (with the second faster than the first...

just incredible!!!

anyway here on earth I will keep enjoying running, at my pace, looking for a bit of satisfaction, a lot of health and having good time :)

Hope you all have a great week ahead and happy running!!!

Training is going pretty well. Was just perusing possible races. The ones coming up would interfere with my training so I’ve started to look at next year now!

Also forgot to say many thanks to you ladies for putting the pic of the Bangles up for this week. Always good to have a motivational and inspirational image to carry with you on your runs. And for "men of a certain age" like yours truly, there is not much in this world as inspirational as the rather delightful Susannah Hoffs ;)
