Struggling at the Moment...

Today I really struggled to get going and it's happening more at the moment. I managed 10km with walk run to make sure my legs hit the distance but I felt heavy this morning. It is humid and oppressive weather which may not help. But it seems to be happening more at the moment. I also struggle with my nose running constantly when running.

Plus side, the canal was looking pretty today, and running group on Monday :) Oh, and Hampshire seem to have put photos of Oldfloss on signs along the canal :P

Hang in there! I think the weather has a lot to answer for. Is the nose problem a new thing? Maybe a steroid nasal spray would help?

Beautiful pics 😊

It seems to come and go. I tried antihistamines but they didn't work. It just seems to happen when running. Maybe I have snot gremlins?

Ha, I hope not - imagine snot gremlins!!

I think there's lots of unusual stuff going on in the airways of a person who's running. Steroids are different to antihistamines, might be worth a try.

I don't know if you might benefit from something like otrivine—I get mad dust allergies from cleaning the house and also wood dust which make me really ill and my nose all raw, and otrivine has honestly changed my life. It's just a wee nose spray, presumably a steroid based one, and it just seems to calm everything down and make my nose normal again. I like the menthol one best as I can breathe so unhindered! My partner uses it too as he has a deviated septum (former boxer 🙄) and gets really stuffy in the nose, so it works for all kinds of troubles. We have so much of it in the house it's a bit ridiculous.

These heavy days and dips are sent so that we really appreciate the good days and runs, right? The good run that's just around the corner, right? 10k is 10k. And to make the distance when it doesn't feel good is all the more admirable.

As I read your post, that was my instinctive response. Now I need to take note of it too having 'wobbled' this morning!

Hang on in there for that good run 😀

I know, a good run is just around the corner... And it's meant to be a Smidge cooler next week... I need to put this run behind me, head up and get back onto the running horse after a rest day :)

I always take a big hankie and a towelling wrist band for my snozzle. No drugs reqd. Runny nose is from running surely 😃🤷‍♀️

I always get a runny nose on my runs, I carry a packet of tissues tucked away in my shorts waistband and a wear a wristband.... mainly for wiping sweat out of my eyes 😊

The heat takes a real toll. I had a horrible hot run a couple of weeks ago, but today’s was cooler and much better on the same route. I bring a couple of tabs of kitchen roll for my nose. These days my allergies have slowed down but I almost sneezed my face off when I got back home. No worries, you will be great next time out.

Snot rockets usually work for me, once every 10k.

I agree, just ick to snot rockets.

Did a run with the group last night and got my fastest run despite cool down walk being included and second fastest km (a still slow 8 min 5 seconds). But feeling better now for it
