Hello everybody and welcome to Monday....so I will be honest, I cant say that I am embracing this week ....yet... I would like a holiday. However the World still goes round and things still need doing so its a case of dominating the day!!! So lets do just that.
Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week. Please join in the discussion
If you're new or a lurker this is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.
Have a great week, and enjoy your runs

It's hard isn't it, this training lark. My respect goes out to all those have done a marathon or more, because the training is so hard i'm only on week 6 now out of 12 albeit I repeated a week and it feels very challenging. I did 61k last week and will have to do the same or more this week and the long run is only 24k.
Looking on the bright side though, I have lots of new toys to play with ie shoes, socks and headphone, so I should do some reviews to keep roseabi happy
I also have monday off running.. how sweet is that hehe, but do have the gym after work boo.
But best of all I have done 192k of my 200km July challenge so tuesday being the last day and I really shouldn't count my chickens, I reckon I may just do it. schwingg....
Crikey Mikey! and there's me wombling about doing a 50 mile virtual challenge in August! I did 68km this month and thought i was doing well. You do nearly that in a week ...
I know it's crazy and in two weeks the program will have me doing 73k in a week. That's why I find this forum so intimidating, all the people here have done that and more and sit solemn like guardian sentinels watching us younglings flounder about in the dust. You'll do your 50miles with ease and if you do it wombling I will look forward to the post about it โบ๏ธ
Hi Ju-ju! Iโve ramped up my mileage since graduating. But enjoying it. Off on holiday on Saturday so looking forward to some down time. Hoping to do the odd run whilst over there too. ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐ ๐
I've been struggling a bit this past week, sleeping poorly and fighting off a cold! But still plugging along with the ultra training plan I've been looking back at the last time I did it before I had to pull the plug on it, and I see "it's so cold!!", where this time around I've been saying "it's so warm!!". Swings and roundabouts
I'm doing my first ever "double" run today - 35 minutes easy already in the bag this morning, 35 minutes tempo to come later. Was hoping for more rain (it was really nice this morning!!), but it looks as though I'll be huffing and puffing again
The wind got really gnarly over the weekend, so I didn't get any windsurfs in - in fact on Sunday not even the super-duper surfers ventured out! It looks good for this week though
Bought myself a new pair of trainers yesterday, so I am looking forward to giving them a run out tomorrow. Spent more than I have ever spent on footwear or indeed would normally be happy spending on something that I will basically tread into the ground, but if they work out then its worth it!!
Iโm fair to middlin. Got a poorly ear again, which drives me crazy, and means a trip to ENT shortly.
Meanwhile, still training for half, and a marathon. itโs only just started so slow and lovely at the minute. Been enjoying shorter slow runs in the warm. Got drowned yesters but it was lovely and steamy ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐ง
I enjoyed my last hill race and won stuff so chuffed with that.
I will be doing a short, but tough fell race, in October. Plenty to keep me busy
Have fun out there folks ๐
Exciting week for me with a virtual challenge for August paid for, my Blenheim 10k getting closer and my decision to do Oxford HM next year. I do realise I'm in the grip of a full blown obsession with this running malarkey, but I'm never happier than when obsessed. And it's been going for over 9 months now!
So, i will don my leather gear, brandish my whip and dominate the day -
I had been planning to do my long run yesterday, and so despite the fact I really, really, really hate running in the rain I forced myself onto a bus and along the coast, then ran home. I hated it though ๐ I grumbled to myself the whole way, and got in the door damp and fed up and with a blister on my toe. But the bath afterwards felt great!
Also, got some new shoes half price from Wiggle so am excited to try them out. Maybe at the weekend ๐
Hi all - probably a week of consolidation for me after managing 12.5km last Saturday (whoop!). Need to find a few new interesting running routes too, to keep it fresh.
This is one of my biggest battles! The longer the runs get the tougher it seems to be to plan a nice route. I'm personally not a fan of the hobbit run (I understand the logic and the draw for some, it's just a psychological thing for me, I find it tough to push myself to a point and then turn roundโI don't like to repeat bits if I can avoid it) so I've started just getting on a bus somewhere and running back home for my long runs. The short ones I can switch off enough to just lap my local park but come the weekend, I need a nice, interesting route!
The bus... now thereโs an idea ๐ Yeah, so far I have quite liked heading out from home and sort of letting my feet take me where they want to go, and so exploring all the nooks and crannies of the neighbourhood. But Iโm beginning to run out of new ways of doing that. Plus Iโm getting a bit of a craving for a decent patch of woodland atm....
Exactly! Knowing you're running home makes it just that little bit less tough somehow. That bubbly bath and cup of tea literally get closer with every step!
Just been following the asics HM plan. Work has been really stressful the last few weeks, so the runs have been good mental releases. Long run over the weekend was around 16k, ( no leader this week as he is training out east for an upcoming Iceland marathon!) and the weekday runs are still 5 or 7s. Not very eventful, I know.
You have just rewritten the rules.Something to aspire to for me.๐ค
Wake up motivated.โ
Love it. For me and some of my friends it is a good day if we wake up.๐๐. Maybe I just need to get new friends.๐๐
Nothing works less you work.โ
Very true. The good thing is with age, the more bits that fall off the lighter we become and we donโt need to carry all the spare parts anyway.๐๐
Nothing changes unless we change.โ Very true.
Continuous improvement of happiness.๐ค
There was a man, he was poor, he only had money.๐ค
Dominate the Day.โ
Yes, but I can live in hope.I am pleased I am a pensioner, I choose when I may dominate my day.Slow to get started.๐ค๐๐
Go all of you and continue to inspire.๐ฅ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐ฅ
Next week I've decided I'm going to Run At Work, because I just don't really have time to do it in the evenings, and that won't change till we wrap production in November. This is a weirdly big milestone for me, and it gives me butterflies just thinking about it. I'm very much an antisocial runner, and although I'm not planning to run actually with anyone the thought of going out lycra clad through security into film city, full of tourists and in broad daylight, strikes fear into my heart. Worse still, coming back through all pink faced and sweaty ๐ถ๐ฌ Silly really, lots of other people do it. I need to make it my normal. I'm writing it here so come next week, I've no choice!
