Splash-pad run

Was a really hot one today. 32 feeling like 38, so to beat the heat the run group decided on running to all of the children’s splash pads in town. I think we must have hit around 5 of them. The kids had the right idea today. Was amazing getting fully soaked and 10 min later feeling bone dry. We did not do a very long stint, just around 15k in total with splash breaks every 3k or so. And there were freezies after we finished! I think I am regressing back into childhood again :)

Good run on all fronts. Good to let the inner child out now and again 😄 (As long as it's well behaved in company!) Also, get you!😄 Not a very long run ..... 15k 😃 ..... Wasn't that long ago we could only dream of such things. Brilliant. Here's to more of those runs 👍

Haha yes this group does get creative! I really appreciated it too after working long hours through the last few weekends. Yes the 15k seemed short because we kept stopping to cool down. :). Next week’s plan is to maybe run down to Nathan Phillip’s Square downtown to take in an art show. That is around a 15k distance. Hopefully I can swing it with the workload.

Was that after one of your brewery runs? I must admit, you guys have some cracking ideas. What next? Mob-run through supermarkets? It feels I would slot right in!

Mob-run through supermarket - but only up/down and round the fridge/freezer aisles. You're right, they certainly know how to have fun while they suffer over there!

Haha no, this was just a Saturday group run. I can only imagine how it would have gone down if there was beer involved as well 🤪 Supermarket mob runs could definitely work through the frozen section!

I would need that! It’s 9am here and I’m about to do 16K and it’s already very warm. I. Love. This. Weather. 😎

Maybe carry a squirt gun along with your water bottle 😎 💦

You should patent that stuff, your ideas would make you prosperous! Squirt Gun, available from Decker Is Run online, at 9.99 while stocks last. ;)

What a great way to get a run in despite the heat! Regress away...sounds absolutely blissful 🙃. You have the best running group around.

Yes it really was a flash of brilliance. We got some strange looks from the grandmas when we jumped in the water with their grandkids, but the kids did not seem to care.

I bet the kids loved it! They seem to love it when the adults “play” . Great idea!

Yes the kids enjoyed the antics. Reminded me of playing in the waterparks with our two when they were toddlers. 🙂

Only 15 km... Sounds like a great way to run in the heat.

Each start from a splash-pad felt like a fresh run. It was great. They need to set a marathon up with splash-pad stations!

Yes, it wasn’t quite a long run, but it was good fun!

Awww, that sounds fab Decker, even with the breaks 15k, whew, that’s a long way!! You have my utmost respect!! Nothing wrong with bringing the inner child out now & again 😁

Yes, it was a good laugh! File under “things you can do in a group but not alone” 😁. It is remarkable how fresh you feel after a soak. Even just some cool water to the back of the neck. I was done by the end though.

We don’t have any near me ☹️ Mind you, they’d not get used 364 days of the year 😁

They get used quite a bit by parents for the little ones. We used to take our two quite often when they were toddlers. And now with the runners going too, there is a whole new use for them 😊
