I didn't realise this forum existed, but I was advised by SaskAlliecat that I should come in here and get a graduation badge as today I managed somehow to run 22km which is just slightly more than a half marathon. Looking forward to getting another shiny new badge and a few cheers on the podium.

Surprise half marathon
Hello, and a gigantic squidgy welcome to the forum!!!!
Congratulations for reaching the half marathon distance, and here's your badge
Thanks. I've been a member of C25K forum for some time and then the Bridge to 10K which I graduated about a year ago I think. I hadn't realised there was an another forum for the Half Marathon. Mind you I didn't actually know that I was training for the HM, I was just gradually building up my distance.
Woohoo!
I knew the forum was here, but inhadnt realised I could get a graduation badge for running a Half, until someone told me π welcome aboard.
Thanks Maddee_6333 it's good to see some familiar faces. I knew there was a Marathon forum but like you, I didn't realise you could get a Half Marathon Badge too. I'm grinning with pride.
Just wondering how many rest days I should have before my next run, and whether or not to sign up for an organised Half Marathon.
You could probably do a gentle recovery run in a day or two if youβre feeling good.
Nothing ventured, nothing won, as they say, so why not give it a whirl? I was the last finisher in the one I did back in February.
The weather was atrocious - bitterly cold, and snowing at times.
I was running without a dog (Because she wasnβt fit enough) and slightly under trained.
But I still mostly enjoyed it.
Mostly because I got so much encouragement in the last quarter from the ultra runners. I mean really, they were SO generous with their encouragement, it was lovely, really how you want your fellow runners to be.
Thank you for your encouragement Tbae , I hadn't realised you were training for a half marathon too.
I want to do an HM for the Macular Society maybe in August.π€
Probably just 10x2.2k Circuit around my local woodland park.
Self Sponsorship.
At my pace it is probably 3 hours plus.Doable but a good shift.
I have been just extending my long easy run every alternative week. But min 10K so I slowly increase my weekly from 15k to 30k.Longest single11.6k and highest 6 day 31.6k.
Respecting and using all the guidance.
Trying to fit in other stuff sensibly also.
Very well done you.Mr Raz will be so pleased and proud.
Enjoy your celebrations.πππ
Hi Razouski!! Nice to see you here and congratulations on your hm! Amazing achievement and a great time.
On c25k my plan was to be able to run 5k parkrun, never thought I would run a hm either! Perhaps a full marathon next if the hm felt good?
Congratulations!ππππππ I am intrigued by it being a "surprise Half Marathon!" Very impressive!π
I only set out to run 17km but then once I got to 17km I just kept on running and by the time I got to twenty I thought it would be silly not to continue! π
Super time, too!π
Huge well done you!
Thanks Oldfloss, if you see my Bridge to 10k post youβll see that you were with me on my run. You kept me going. π

Ey up Raz π. Congrats on the accidental half. How time flies when youβre having fun. Music on and some pretty countryside and the time just evaporates, and the miles too of course. Well done πͺπππββοΈ
